Anyone up for a Toronto mini-meetup?

I will be at a conference near the airport this weekend: Thursday till Saturday. One night (probably Friday) I will get together with my parents out of town. DH might be joining me Friday and onwards. If so, I will have some time to myself Thursday evening, and if not, also Saturday afternoon. Is anyone around that has time to get together for a meal or for tea and window shopping?

I'd love to as I'm in and out of Toronto reasonably frequently, but not this weekend:) You know that there is no such thing as window shopping near the airport, right? Yorkdale is reasonably close, but it's still a good cab ride away...

I stay out near the airport for the big conferences I attend too, and never get any shopping done - that $55 cab ride downtown is too much of a deterrent when you can't expense it

Even a special "long layover" return-within-7-hours $12 fare, would work for shopping!
Edit, it looks like maybe the return fares are only available online. Which I don't get. And I've removed what I said about Bloor, the station isn't downtown - it's in a funky neighbourhood that I don't know very well. Union is the best bet for the casual tourist. I still think this train is a good option for visitors stuck out at the airport!

Wow thanks Jules, never knew that existed.

I checked and it says Bloor Station is near Dundas West subway station. Is there a practical way to get from there to Yorkdale via TTC or am I off my rocker?

For that matter, didn't the GO bus use to go from the airport to Yorkdale? That might be worth a try. Or should I be heading somewhere else?

I did that Express thing to Union station when I was there and it worked out great.

If Yorkdale is your destination the GO bus, assuming it still exists (I'm not sure), would probably make the most sense. It'd be two subway rides from Bloor to Yorkdale, a bit convoluted if there's a direct bus.

Sounds like fun. It depends on the day and time. I am driving from Hamilton to Muskoka on Thursday. I'll check back and see what you decide.
