any recommendations for pear-friendly nude seamless underwear?

I need to find some underwear to wear under my wedding dress. My striped cotton Gap hipsters just won't cut it, LOL.

I am looking for something nude and seamless that won't show that elastic indentation at the waistband. I do NOT want a thong, anything with shapewear properties, or any sort of lace or other decorations (as that will show through the dress fabric). It must be nude, as any other color will show through. Oh, and it must have at least a cotton crotch lining (sorry if TMI) although I actually prefer all cotton.

The thing is: I'm a pear. With a lot of junk in the trunk, but with very little in front. A lot of underwear ends up being too skimpy in back so it gives me a wedgie, and some of it is also too roomy in front. So, for example, the Shimera boyshorts that were in the YLF store a while back did not work for me because they were both too skimpy in back and simultaneously too baggy in front.

Anyway, I was thinking about trying some of the Commando seamless styles, but they are rather spendy. I was wondering if anyone with a body type like mine has tried them, and which style would you recommend? The bikini comes in cotton, which I would prefer, but is it still seamless?

I was going to suggest Commando. I ordered mine during NAS. They could cover more in back but are better than most. Plus, one size covers quite a range so you don't have to fear you ordered the wrong size. The seam runs down the middle of the front and back. Dana (Ironkurtin) ordered quite a few pairs a month or three ago, so maybe she has recent insights.

Diana, I only wear cotton panties by VS, with no PPL that I'm aware. I must check Commando for undies. I love their hose.

Zap, I actually tried my dress with a pale pink VS cotton bikini that I happened to have on hand. The problem was not VPL exactly, but I could see the slight indentiation at the side where the waist elastic was. I don't think this is usually visible except if one happens to be wearing a slightly sheer white dress in bright light! My Gap ones do that too. The commandos are supposed to have the same waistband-less design that their tights do.

Just an off topic question and it's just the curious cat in me. Please do not take this the wrong way, but why are you absolutely set on no thongs or anything resembling lace on a day such as your wedding day? I kind of think that's the day you want to be the most different and special? I used to be no thongs also but now I can't imagine wearing anything else because they really are comfortable if you get the right one.

Kalli, no worries. I don't want a thong because I find them horribly uncomfortable. It is possible that I haven't found a good one yet, but I don't want to be experimenting on that day! And I love lace (and will most likely be wearing a lacy bra) but it does show slightly through the lower portion of the dress. (The dress is chiffon with a lining, not normal thick bridal satin.) A completely flat nude panty is the only thing that won't show in bright light.

well if you can't find your commando panty, perhaps you should try cosabella for their no show thongs before the big day (call it a test), they're very comfy and many celebrities wear them. Or um.... it's shocking to say but there is always the naughtiness of going full on commando

cosabella is great if you have long torso. sadly i did not. i swear by hanky panky for the everyday no vll. but commando is the bizniz for truly line free look. i prefer the cotton ones, more breathable, but to look like you are going "commando" get the artificial fiber one.

As a pear with some junk in my trunk, I like these by Calvin Klein. The only underwear that give me no lines anywhere.

So both Calvins & Commandos are laser cut at the top, so it depends where you want your seams, side or center. I'm assuming you are going bare legged?

I like commando but find the regulars ride up my not so pear-like bum to become a thong (although not uncomfortable - I actually don't mind the commando thongs either). They are quite lightweight and laser cut so no VPL, but they do ride up as there is nothing to keep them from doing so. Have you ever tried the Soma Vanishing edge panties? they have that grippy stuff so they stay put. Lots of styles to choose from and usually a deal on buying a lot.
I'd recommend buying these AND a commando. You can figure out which you prefer and wear the others regularly.

DJ, those Calvins look really promising. They have the laser cut waistband like the Commandos and I really like that they have a cotton gusset. As far as I can tell, the Commandos don't have a cotton gusset, so I would most likely have to go with the cotton over the microfiber (maybe TMI, but for me no cotton gusset = not breathable = yeast infection).

Jeanne and Angie, I'll be sure to check out Soma! I don't think I've ever looked at their offerings before. As far as I can see, they are not elastic-free at the waist, but perhaps if I choose a high waisted style it won't matter.

Donna, yes, I will be going barelegged. One of the benefits of a long dress - no hose necessary! Plus I'll most likely be wearing open toed shoes, so hose is not an option anyway.

Anyway, those Calvins are pretty cheap so I think I'll try ordering a pair of those to start, then go for Commando or Soma if they don't work out.

Have you checked the Gilligan O'Malley line at Target? http://www.target.com/p/gillig.....A-14394471 I wear the modal thongs but they have bikinis and hipsters as well. They also have a seamless nylon blend (with cotton gusset) that has zero indentation on the hip - I'm sure there is a non-thong version of this. For $5 it's worth checking out on your next shopping trip

FWIW, my cotton spandex Commandos have a cotton gusset. Plz report back on your findings, esp. since what works for one doesn't necessarily work for all.

Here's what I did: I wore no underpants at all. Can't have panty line without panties! My mom had an apoplexy, but with my column-like, floaty chiffon wedding dress, the best solution was to simply not wear any. My nude pantyhose did offer some support and coverage (and they had a cotton gusset), and before the wedding, I tested it out on my three bridesmaids and they swore up and down that they could not see through the dress. I tried it in all different lights and could not see through it either.

I guess I'm quite old fashioned, but what about a nude colored slip under your dress? Does anyone wear them anymore? That might help smoothing out VPL, much in the same way Angie recommends a camisole.
