Announcing the First YLF Seattle Swap on Feb 21

Julie (JuliJuli), Marianne, and Antje have come up with a plan for a YLF Seattle clothing swap to be held on Feb. 21st from 10:30 –12:00. The “rules” are as follows:

You must bring at least 5 and no more than 15 clothing items to swap.

You can bring an unlimited amount of accessories, purses, shoes, scarves.

All items must be clean and in good condition (and if possible hung on your own hangers).

This is not an actual ‘swap’ so it’s possible you could bring 5 items and go home with 1 (or none) – there are no guarantees.

Anything that is left over at the end of the swap will be donated to a local charity (unless you choose to take it back home with you.)

If you’re interested in attending – please email antje_ylf@live.com for a firm RSVP (as we need to limit the number of attendees for space reasons.)

In your email, please provide your real name in addition to your forum name, and include your clothing size. We will indicate the range of sizes in our swap announcement so attendees know whether their size will be represented.

More details about the event, including location, will be communicated to those who RSVP via email.

We look forward to seeing/meeting you at the swap!

Antje, Julie and Marianne

I would have loved to attend, but I'm leaving for Hawaii that day. Oh well maybe next time.

I'm so jealous! What a fun time it will be. I love every swap item I have received so far. Please post pics!

What a wonderful idea - hope it is a huge success!

Posted 9 months ago

Yeah, we'll definitely have cameras ready and take pictures of everyone who's comfortable with that. I'm excited! For me the best part is not even the clothes swap but (hopefully) meeting some more local YLF gals :-)

What a great idea, I wish I could be there!:)

Posted 9 months ago

I'm there !

Antje, I know MANY local YLF'ers who do not post on the forum. Would you like me to contact them separately? It really depends on how many people you’re willing to accommodate.

Posted 9 months ago

Absolutely, Angie, please do. I already pinged a couple women who I know read your blog religiously but aren't active on the forum. I'll send you email offline to tell you whom I contacted. The event is open to anyone who is interested in YLF, but we do need to cap it, which is why it's important that women RSVP to secure a spot.

I think I feel a future blog post coming on! ;) (At least, I hope I do--this sounds like a lot of fun).

Done, Antje. Stay tuned Ana!

Shall I make my chocolate cake? It's quite delectable.

Ooh - I think you should. Antje and I were planning on making mimosas and some yummy bites and that sounds like a great addition!

I'm so sad that once again I'll miss a Seattle YLF get-together. But I look forward to meeting everyone once I am back in Settle in the fall.

I'm very tempted to drive down from Vancouver for this. I wonder how long it would take me to do so.

Posted 9 months ago

Oh Brianna, you totally should! The drive takes about 3 hours. It would be wonderful to have you there!

We'll recipocrate by coming up to Vancouver for a shopping trip sometime later this year (we've already chatted about it...)

Posted 9 months ago

Oh Brianna! How fabulous. Without border traffic and loo break you're looking at 2.8 hours.

Antje and I are talking about a Vancouver YLF trip. I’ll post about the prospect.

Oh darn! I'm heading to Vegas that weekend for a girl's getaway. And here I just did a massive closet sweep and have quite a few gems available for swapping!

So far, my timing for Seattle YLF meetups has been way off.... :-(

I would be up for a Vancouver YLF road trip at some point! Although I am in and out of Vancouver often, I rarely get a shopping trip in. I keep trying to swing it but with all the family stuff, it never seems to come together. I'm actually heading up to Vancouver tomorrow morning but since its for a funeral, I doubt shopping will make it on my agenda.

Ooooh oooh, I will probably be in Vancouver sometime mid-April as one of my Canadian cousins in Toronto is getting married. Any chance of you guys waiting till then? I'd love to do some shopping in Vancouver!!! (also hoping to head to NYC as well!)

Posted 9 months ago

Oh! That's so exciting Tam! Toronto and Vancouver are far away from each other though - like a 5-6 hour flight (just in case you did not know that).

Also, if the Vancouver YLF gathering does happen, it will probably be in May because I can’t go in April. BUT! Canada is a fabulous place. You should definitely try and see more of it when you are there. I have sort of developed a soft spot for anyone and anything Canadian :-)

Posted 9 months ago

Tam, I'd love to go shopping and show you around when you're here!

May would be a great time for a YLF gathering... that gives me time to save up some money and scout around in a few areas I haven't spent too much time in yet!

I'll check my calendar and have a chat with Mike. We've been wanting to go to Seattle for a while to check out a brewpub that has something like 120 kinds of beer on tap (we're huge beer snobs). Maybe he'll want to come with me, go fishing or exploring during the swap, and then to the pub for a late lunch or early dinner.

Bummer, I will likely not be free that day. This sounds like such a hoot. I am all for the Vancouver shopping trip. I plan to be there a lot in the 2nd half of this year! I went last weekend and scored a couple of great items from Zara - a store that I love but don't have in the Seattle area.

Posted 9 months ago

Darn, Sihaya I was really hoping you could come. :-(

Posted 9 months ago

Brianna I'd love to take you up on that offer! :)

Toronto and Vancouver are indeed far away - North America is such a wide continent! We'll be around for 2 weeks all up though and I love Vancouver so will def. be flying either in/out of there on the way back to Sydney. The last Canadian wedding I went to was in Manitoba, so that was even more of a trek :)

It surely is a beautiful place. Once did the rockies drive from Vancouver to Edmonton - some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!!! I am dreaming of Canadian bagels already!! Ok I guess I have a soft spot for Canadians as well!!

Posted 9 months ago

Oh Sihaya, I was also hoping you'd come! Now I kind of wonder if we should have planned it further out.

Brianna, we'd love to see you on the 21st!

I am very interested in Vancouver trip but it might be tough for me to fit it in. May might work better, since it's far enough.

Posted 9 months ago

Oh no. I'm very busy second half of February and also have an event from 19th to 20th. Bummer. :(

Oh well. I still hope to make it up north one day soon and meet Seattle YLFers.

Have a great time, everyone! And report back :)

Bumping up the announcement for visibility... We can still take more swappers!

Posted 9 months ago

Antje, sadly I don't think I'll be able to make it--one of my best friends is organizing a get-together that night--but I hope you can come to Vancouver later in the year.

Posted 9 months ago

Bummer, Brianna, it would have been lovely to meet you in person and have you join the swap! But I sure hope we'll manage to put together a Vancouver YLF meet this spring.

Bumping the thread for visibility. We can still take a few swappers on Feb 21 :-)
