Sorry my response has taken so long! I'm sort of limited on time lately, and I'd rather spend the time I have commenting on other people's posts.
Thank you all for the feedback! After reading your responses, and also that Patience and Tanya have ordered their Docs, I'm doubly excited about ordering mine. I bought a DVF dress with my allowance for this two weeks, so I'll have to wait a little white to order mine (I still have to get Brendan's Christmas present). But I'm definitely going to do it now!
I think I will try them with skinny jeans. The only skinny jeans I have right now are black. I went to Express today and tried on the Mia skinny jeans in Tidal Rinse and really liked them. Do you all have issues with the ink rubbing off? If not, then I will buy those and probably wear the boots with them. Yay!
Patience, thanks for the compliment on my legs! I will try to remember it when I wake up early and don't want to go to cycling class, hee hee. Boots and skirts is definitely perfect fall/winter wear for Austin. I'm finding myself investing more and more in dresses and skirts. I'm actually thinking of going over entirely in the summer, and only having one or two non-dress/skirt bottoms. We'll see, I guess.
Antje, the red skirt is Calvin Klein. I got it at TJ Maxx a few months ago. I wish we had a Club Monaco here (I'd probably shop it as much as J. Crew), but the closest one is in Houston. Definitely give it a shot with a denim jacket! I love my denim jacket--it makes almost anything look more casual. Another casual option for the red skirt is a blousy white button up shirt belted over the top, with ballet flats and a cardigan. Or, a chunky knit sweater belted over the top with knee high boots would look more casual, too. Something like this:

I might get that first sweater in cream and do as I suggested, with Doc Martens!
