Am I shopping for an imaginary life? Fluevog K/R

Hi all! I'm back after a week away and am looking forward to catching up around here!

So...I had to take back my Kate Spade wedges because they just weren't comfortable enough for me to justify the price, which was very sad. However, I did find these Jeffrey Campbell's as a replacement. More comfortable and less than half the price of the Kate's, which I'm thinking is a pretty good deal.

So, between taking back the Kate Spades and a few other returns, I have a bit more room in my budget. I was browsing the Fluevog website and saw a pair of boots that I just couldn't get out of my mind so I popped down to the Seattle store to try them on and I think I fell in love!!! BUT - like the Kate Spade's, these are an investment and they must be versatile enough to be worn to death, which includes making them suitable for my office environment. Sorry these aren't full outfits, but I was just trying on with a variety of bottoms to see what they work best with. What do you think? Am I deluding myself that these can be worn in an office setting? I'd only wear them on business casual days, not when I need to be "suited up". I'm also envisioning them with tights and a midi black skirt?

1. With boyfriend jeans so you can see the whole boot...aren't they pretty?!
2. With a pair of straight leg pants that I'd wear to work
3. Wide-legged black pants that I'd wear to work
4. Skinny jeans
5. Straight leg jeans
6. Black leggings

One of my style goals is to "edge up" my modern classic wardrobe, but is this too much?

I also really like these in both the black and red, which would most certainly fit into my work wardrobe but wouldn't cross over well into casual like the boots would.

They do add a casual vibe to your black pants, but, if you're planning to wear them on business casual days, I think that would help dress down the outfit. But I especially love them when you wear them with jeans and tights so the top is visible.

But then, I fall so hard for Fluevog shoes and boots. To me they are the epitome of statement dressing. Everyone notices and comments on them.

Okay, Christy, I can't even comment on the boots yet because I am over the moon for those shoes!! I just put *comfortable* leopard pumps and black pumps on my wish list and that black/print pair is awesome! WoW!! I wish they had some reviews. . .

I think your boots are way cool with the gorgeous detail at the top. I'm not as sure about the size of the opening. That's always been one of my sticking points and need to hear from other's expert views. . .

Sara, I did try the black pump with the leopard print on and they were *very* comfortable. Didn't feel like a high heel at all.

ooo gimme gimme...those are fab! They would work perfectly for my work capsule but here the common wor capsule is casual, almost super casual. I think yours is more professsional but still in my head they are sophisicated enough that I could see them as shown plus with a dress or skirt. Yes, keep!

In the Fluevog universe, those are what I would call subdued funky— I love them. But I am a Fluevog fan and own several pairs of the boots. The only thing that gives me pause is the 4.5-inch heel. I wear high heeled boots all the time, but a day spent on that height heel would wear me out. If you can manage the heel, then I think you will get a lot of wear out of these beauties.

Christy I really like these boots. They look good in the pictures but ideally need to see some full outfit pictures to properly assess. I think they are a definite for non work outfits but I would love to see some work outfits with them:)

Christy, I like the boots but I LOVE the shoes for you (in black and animal) and think they might be just the thing to give your professional looks the edge you are looking for. But you can't lose with any of these options really!

Great boots!!! I don't see than as too casual, especially when you cover them like in #3. The details are really special, still not too much. They can be dressed up and down and all your styling ideas work really well. If they are comfy and suits your budget, I think they are a great investment that would work for many, many different occations

As far as the boots, I keep on going back and forth on them. I think they definitely would work for the more liberal business casual and under pants they are not really an issue. What's giving me pause is the detail on the ankle. I am thinking it might be leg shortening, but I'll have to see a full leg picture. Also, I am not sure if they will be in PPL on the picture with the trousers. I'm lukewarm on them overall, but if you love them, feel free to ignore me.

The last pumps are very cool. The test is to see whether they edge up or frump down. That type of shoe - loafer heels- can go either way, in my opinion.

I don't care for these boots, but to each their own. What bugs me about the boots is the color of the sole. It's a harsh contrast to the rest of the boot. Yes it coordinates with the ankle trim, but what if you want to wear your pants down like pic 3?

I reserve the right to grow to love them, after seeing you style them with various outfits.

Hi, Christy! As I'm not in the USA I never ever heard about this brand before joining the YLF, neither have I ever tried one pair on and or seen one in person:-(.
But I learned here how comfy and great they are and how of a true statement they make when worn.
So, I'm not at all an expert on Fluevogs, and wearring them with cuffed jeans or thights are no brain BUT the most appealling to me is nr 2(and 5) worn with full length, straight leg black pants(or jeans).

The contrast colour on the soles and heels can really soften the look of an outfit especially those put together with those dressy black pants, giving them just a bit of a casual vibe, so not dressing all down at all, if that makes sense.

It's like beeing a bit rebelious against common choices and showing a bit of more confidence and personality.

So I vote KEEP, they will complimet and give a pounch to all your dressy neutral or black and cream outfits which I know you wear a lot!, and plus will bookend your hair, too:-)

I like them. The wood/contrast reminds me of the Swedish Hasbeens in some way, but these are far more edgy. I'm another Fluevog fan.

I love the shoes for you, though!

I like these boots (and those shoes are so awesome), and my fav is with black tights. But I have no advice as to whether they would work in your office environment. If you would be comfortable wearing them there, I would go for it!

I'm a Fluevog fan, but I am iffy on these boots. I really like them for casual wear but worry that the band might be leg-shortening...perhaps that is more of an issue for me than for you, however.

I happen to like the contrasting sole (though would it wear well in Seattle's rain???) I just bought a pair of black sandals with bamboo heels, so I may be biased towards this type of thing.

Meanwhile, I just LOVE the shoes, in both versions, and can really see you in those.

I think with the boots I would need to see them styled.

I love the boots with a skirt or pants tucked in. I think you need to see all the detail for the style to make sense. It looks a little strange to my eye to see just the black toe and the light sole.

The boots are cool and edgy, but I don't know how versatile they'd be in real life. Also, you might get sick of the very things that make them edgy and different.

I think the true-blue Fluevog style is something that people either instantly adore for its quirky styling or can't quite figure out why someone would want to spend $$$ on such strange looking boot/shoe. That's why I call them "statement" shoes. People will definitely notice them and make a comment--aloud if they like them and to themselves if they hate them. And, if you are a true-blue, Fluevog lover, flattery and practicality are probably NOT the main reasons you gravitate towards these shoes.

The second pair that you've linked to are what I call the more "conventional" range Fluevog which still keeps a bit of the quirky style, but is more mainstream so more people are likely to see them as interesting and wearable.

Which one you choose depends on how much of a statement you want to make with your footwear.

They are WONDERFUL. Do you find them comfortable enough to wear for a whole day?

Krish - haven't put them through the whole-day test yet but they feel pretty comfortable for their height. They are a high heel but also a pretty high platform so the real heel height is 3.5 inches which is well within my comfort zone for a full day at the office.
