I hope I'm not posting these things too often, but I'm learning sooo much from you all and appreciate the time you take to help me out.

I'm very excited! My husband and I are going out to a nice restaurant with some friends this evening. Now's my chance to wear my fancy clothes. I'm certain I'm going to end up overdressed, but that's ok by me. I want to feel like a lady!

I bought a long-sleeved lace top today to wear under my sleeveless black dress. I'm worried that I'll be cold in the restaurant (I generally am) and couldn't find a nice coverup in the time I had to shop. Does the lace top work? The only thing I don't like about it are the bell sleeves. It would be more versatile for me if the were straight. I may alter those another day. Can I wear those sleeves down with the short fur jacket or should I fold them up?

Which shoes? After seeing these pictures, I'm not crazy about the boots/booties. Can I wear stockings with peep toes or is that a no-no?

I love 1 and 2!!! You look like a movie star! Very glam!

If you want a more dressed down look, I like the one with boots, actually (#5). I find the pearls competing with the lace, so, if you choose this one, could you do the sleeveless dress, the pearls, the boots, and then throw the fur over your shoulders if you are cold?

But 1/2 is my fave!

I also prefer 1 & 6 but they are all great! I'm not a huge fan of the tall boots, as much of a boot lover I am. They just don't fit the dressy level of the rest of the outfit to me.

OMG, definitely wear the faux fur jacket! I like the red peeptoes. I think peeptoes with textured (non-reinforced toe) stockings looks ok.

First off, I'm so excited about your excitement about getting dressed up! I think everyone should dress up more often when they go out

My favs are 1 + 2. That dress is really flattering on you. I'm ambivalent about the lace under the sleeveless sheath (because of the busyness). Then again, I'm not a fan of lace so that could be personal bias.

Shoewise, I prefer a pump style. The red peeptoes are awesome! The boots would work for a more RATE style though.

Fan-cee! You can totally wear the sleeves down. I agree re. the booties. The black pumps and pearls are really elegant. I think it's a difficult choice between the red and black shoes. For me, I think maybe I'm in the mood for the black shoes.

And you have to wear it!!! At dinner, you WILL get comments ('cuz you look so glam), and you can say, "Oh this? I threw it together in an afternoon......."

I also like #6 a great deal for a different occasion this holiday season or this winter. It's less glam but very luxe and ladylike.

Amy...wow! Dress 1 .. Stunning. I love this with the faux fur jacket too. Very elegant and lady like and super stylish.

I also love the ore dress with the ruffled hem. I really love the look of the lace top under the dress. and I love the sleeve. This whole look, particularly with the boots has a very retro 60's vibe which I personally love. I would loose the pearls and add a drop earring.

You look stunning. Bet hubby thought he was out with a movie star.

Plonck!:-)) you are very skilled! I used to sew me clothes, but not of such a complexity, at all!!! I like nr 1/2, as Angie said, keep the fur coat on, for a more glamorous look-it is all trully fab!
I like the other dress, too on it's own like in nr. 3, or with the lace top and boots,BUT then without the pearls and love nr. 10, too(pearls left long).
I think several strands of white pearls are too bulky and of too much contrast against all the blacks from the lace top, dress, tights, and shoes.

I feel like you could also sew a ribbon on the sleeves of the lace top-if you are so skilled-for another look- with gathered sleeves and so you will be able to pull them up a bit if you want. I would sew a black satin ribon cca 3ˇfrom the nem of the sleeves to do that....just in case:-))

Thanks for asking! I wore the outfit in picture #1. I felt pretty and, as expected, was a little more dressy than most, but didn't stick out like a sore thumb either. My girlfriends all loved the fur jacket and my husband thought it was pretty cute too, so that made me happy.

We had a lovely time at a seafood restaurant on the beach with a great view of the city skyline. Until last night, I hadn't really felt the Christmas spirit, but lots of twinkly lights, good food and great friends fixed that!

We got to catch up with some friends who have been out of the country for the past couple of years, so that was especially nice. We've missed them a lot.

I drank some very tasty Manhattans and ate crab legs--which were good, but really messy. I don't recommend them when wearing satin, lol! I'm scared to inspect the dress for grease spots.

Just looking at your thumbnail pics gave me images of an evening rain covered city street, suited people hunched under umbrellas on their way home from a day's work at the office. There you are getting out of a low slung early 60s Cadillac on the curb of a fancy restaurant with a canopied entrance. The car door being held open by a uniformed valet bowing to your entrance and you giving that wonderful smile in reply...
