Hello, YLFers--this is the first post I've started here, and I'm asking for advice. My next shopping priority is one pair of terrific (I hope!) jeans. I've found NYDJ that fit me well and could purchase those but want to do more research first. I am tall--5'11''--and have long legs. I'm about ten pounds overweight and most of it is in the middle of my body--pear shape? Until YLF, I was blissfully unaware that all my jeans are actually too short! Yes, sometimes ignorance can be bliss. Also, I'd never heard of premium denim. Incredibly, I did thrift a pair of Nicole Miller wide leg jeans a couple of years ago, without realizing what they were. I'm going to let out the hem on them and the length will be fine but I want something additional that's not wide leg. These jeans will need to go through a cold, snowy Midwest winter--no crop length right now! They will be mainly for casual activities but could sometimes go to work. I wear a lot of gray, navy, black, and some turquoise, purple, pink, and white. Footwear will be ankle boots, ballet flats, and snow boots. (hopefully dress boots eventually) I've really been admiring narrow leg jeans in your posts here but would feel self conscious in something too tight fitting.
Okay, here are my main questions:
Would you suggest black, blue, or light grey jeans for my first really good pair? (The Nicole Miller wide legs are slate grey.)
If blue, dark or light?
What general style--bootcut? Or?
Any premium brands you really like which have long inseams?
Anything else I should think about?
Thanks very much for reading and any advice you share. I'm off to work so may not be able to reply for a while.
