2 WIW's - one all buttoned up and one neutral

#1 - I thought I'd post a buttoned-up outfit, since I'm loving them so much these days, but they didn't seem to be getting much love in the comments on Angie's recent post. This outfit was inspired by Rae, who always livens up her neutral pants and jackets with such great blouses.

#2 - Speaking of neutrals, I came late the neutral challenge and put this together yesterday - I'm not sure I can pull off a whole week of this, though! I'm also not sure that I like the sleeves rolled up now that I look at the pic. What do you think?

I absolutely love the first outfit Sarah - first of all, that colour of blue is amazing on you. Then with the strong colour contrast with the black jacket, it pops even more. The outfit has a slightly masculine vibe which really works - love this! The second outfit is gorgeous as well - but I'm having trouble getting past outfit #1!

Sarah- you wear buttoned up really well! LOVE it! I also love your neutrals outfit. I'm wondering if on the sleeves maybe you want to just fold it up once and scrunch for a more relaxed (I'm too cool for school) look.

Sarah - I LOVE the blazer in #1!! Where ever did you get such a flattering blazer?! It's amazing on you and I love the bright blue on you.

You look fab, Sarah! I love the blue blouse on you, buttoned up looks so fresh and fab! I wonder about a skinnier, darker belt? Somehow my eyes go right to the belt (but maybe this is just a personal thing with me :). Love #2--I can go either way on the cuffed sleeves, it's up to you and how you feel!

Your new hair is SO GREAT! Adds both edge and sophistication to your look!

#1- I love the buttoned up look; menswear-inspired is a great look for you! Also, that blue is a divine color for you.

#2-- Love the bracelet with the blouse! I think the sleeves might be a little bulky to have that many rolls.....maybe just scrunch them?

I like both of the outfits, Sarah. I love the color of the blouse in the first one; the only thing I would add would maybe be a necklace to soften it up a bit. I love the second one because it gives off a more relaxed vibe, and I think the sleeves of the jacket pushed up look very up to date.

Thanks, everyone! I never would have purchased a bright blue blouse before YLF, so I'm glad you like it.

Kim and Isis - I think you're right about pushing up the sleeves - they're a bit too tight/bulky to roll. I'll try that next time. Thanks!

Isis - yes, I am loving how my hair helps my outfits ; )

Nakidra - I'm glad you like the blazer! Unfortunately, that's a jacket from GAP from last year. Both Jonesy and I have it. It doesn't look like they have anything quite like it this year : (

Jonesy - I will try a black belt - I see what you mean, particularly with the silk blouse - they sort of compete. Thanks!

Jilly - good suggestion. I'm feeling a bit necklace challenged, but I'll give that s try.

You look great all buttoned up! I really love the colors going on in #1--rich and interesting. I think a more subdued belt would work too--although the belt bookends your hair! LOVE #2--it has that casual yet polished vibe with a bit of rugged thrown in. It doesn't get any better than that! I totally want to copy that one! You are looking amazing!

I think you pull off the menswear look in #1. I'll put it on my list of looks to try (right behind the white shirt with lots of pearls), but I don't expect to match your success. Love the printed top in #2, and the warm color of the boots. Gotta put brown on my list.....

The cobalt shirt makes you glow and I love your rolled up sleeves in #2!

You look fabulous in both outfits. The blue in #1 is gorgeous on you. I think I'd like the sleeves in #2 pushed up rather than rolled, but it's a small detail.

These are great! I have put together an outfit with a bright blue blouse and a black blazer a couple of weeks ago, saved a picture in my files but haven't worn it yet. Your #1 looks stunning and makes me feel like trying mine out, too.

I think the lighter pants really help balance your outfit #1 and also bookend your hair - I will need to see if I can borrow some ideas from this for my "black and blue" combo.

I also like your neutral combo, too - is this a tie-neck blouse? Looks great! I am still trying to work up the courage to wear my tie-neck blouse to work. I have a strange mental block with regard to tie-neck blouses - always fell too dressed up. But your outfit looks just right, not too formal or informal.

Una, yes, I did feel pretty good in these!

Makrame, I wonder if you're reluctance to wear tie-neck blouses is somehow related to your reluctance to wear scarves to work. I wear this blouse all the time, although I generally wear jeans only when I don't teach or am teaching grad student seminars and such. I think you should try scarves and tie-neck blouses for work. You could totally pull it off!

Ooh both of these are fab Sarah! I love your buttoned up look; I don't mind the lighter belt (it's so cool!) and think a darker belt would look equally good. The non-matcher in me wants to see non-blue earrings though For #2, I think just pushing the sleeves up without rolling the cuffs back would look awesome. LOVE that cuff!
