1 Dress 3 Ways

It's "that" time so I'm not up to trying things on and posing. Inspiration is brewing with my Old Navy striped dress and I just had to show you all!

1) Beach side shopping

I couldn't resist this bag! The crinkly and silk-like feel of the fabric, the color, the pattern, the bohemian styling...it all screams summer!! (Target $15)

2) I'm not sure what to call this look...girly with an edge?

When I belt this dress, it gets too short, so I added my white eyelet skirt underneath to bring the length back to my knees.

FABULOUS...Girly with and edge...almost fell off the chair!!! LOVE absolutely everything about it!!!so fab. I am glad someone else has mannequins to play dress up with...I was feeling a little ...um...different:)

OMG. I've wanted to make a dressform to sew with for a while, but held back because I didn't know where/how to hide it when not in use... I never thought about leaving it out and dressing it up! This is awesome, and I love outfit #2!!

I cannot wait to see these on you. You are so good at getting mileage out of individual pieces in new ways. When I thought girly with an edge was my fav, beachside shopping hit me in the face. Then the green belt on ladylike makes me change my mind all over again. I honestly cannot pick a fav. All three are winners!

You guys are gonna laugh...I have a sewing maching AND a dressform, but do I use them to make my own clothing? NOPE. I did make myself two dresses long ago but it took so long and I hated finishing the seams.

I do think I would like to break out the machine again and try making my regular jeans into skinnies like Queenie demonstrated. Plus there are many examples on the web on how to add a little DIY to plain cotton tees.

But the dressform...that baby gets used all the time for all my styling whims. I keep it in the corner of my bedroom, next to the window and it always has some newly styled remix outfit on it complete with jewelry, purse and shoes. Funny, I never cared for dressing dolls or playing dress up as a kid.

Ha...AJ I have a full(headless) mannequin and a half(upper) body mannequin that I keep dressed in my closet

They just might make an appearance in the closet thread.

Taylor, I'm glad your mannequins don't have heads because that would freak me out having those eyes looking at me all the time! LOL!

You have room to fit two dressed mannquins in your closet??!! OK, when April gets this closet thread going, I'm going to have a fun time seeing all these lovely closets that I have imagined in my head!

#1 fresh and easy-going!
#2 that necklace blew me away and I love the addition of the eyelet skirt underneath.
#3 the pattern on the leaf on the skirt echoes the stripes on the shirt. Wow! Also love the green belt with it.

Ok, now I've decided that I MUST have my own mannequin. I've looked into "duct tape" forms that you make from your own body. I'm totally intrigued by that idea!
