The YLF Store – feedback thread

Today we launched the YLF store. It is accessible from the large tab on the top right hand side of the page.

Angie will be stocking the store with items that she or her clients have experienced. YLF members can also review and rate the items according to their own experiences. You can read more about our goals with the store in today’s blog entry.

I am really thrilled about this! You have no idea how many little notes I've made on scraps of paper while reading the blog and forum. Trying to remember various things that were shown on YLF and what people thought of them. What an *excellent* addition to the site.

I second everything VC said!
Greg, two of the links in the introductory post seem to lead to the wrong page. The "about" link takes you to a generic page explaining how wordpress works, and one of the links that's supposed to take you to the store leads instead to a post entitled "store it in a ziplock bag." Just thought I'd let you know.
Thank you so much for helping to make this new feature available!
And a quick sidenote: I never thanked you before for always keeping the site so clean and accessible to someone like me who's using a screen-reader. It's wonderfully blind-guy friendly!

Love the store! I am very excited to start buying! Thanks for making it possible.

I'm not sure if this is just my computer, but the page is now wider than normal, and my user picture shows up on the extra right space.

Is it ok to ask questions about a particular item in the online store, in the 'review' section, or is it best to stick to reviewing the items and asking questions in the forum?

editing to add: I think I'll just ask my question in the forum - it's about the fit of a particular item in the YLF store.

Marianna, hilarious, that extra user badge snuck past me. It's gone now.

VelvetyChocolate, that's a good question. I think the forum is probably a better option because you will get more traction there. I think we need to make it easy to start a forum thread on a particular item from the store.

Greg, you and Angie are so fantastically hard working thank you for the updates.

Just a couple of teething problems, Louise mentioned in a thread the search feature has vanished, plus when I attempt to log on there is an error message about the username.

YLF is proving to be such a successful business model. Congratulations!

RoseandJoan, thanks for pointing out that search vanished! I disabled it during testing and forgot to turn it back on when the new site went live.

Can you send me a private message with more details about the error message that you get when you log in?

I so love the idea of this store. It is a wonderful extension of the great tips Angie has already been giving us - e.g. look at how many of us have those CM microcheck pants!!!

Will there be any announcement to the blog/forum when new items are added? Or is it possible to add an RSS feed so we don't have to keep compulsively checking the store page itself in hope for new tidbits?

One unexpected benefit from shopping the YLF store is that it has helped me train my eye for the different fashion personas. I pick something up while shopping and instantly label it in one of Angie's categories. I might be drawn to something and realize, "No. That's too boho for me." So not only am I excited about the store, I think it is helping train my eye. Thanks Angie & Greg.
