There is a lot of food for thought here! I am in the process of trying to build a (professional) wardrobe- and thinking in terms of numbers is a great way of giving myself a target to aim for.

Wow this is honestly the perfect guide for shopping for the new upcoming seasons! I'll definitely be using this as a guide when I'm out on my next shopping spree!!

I find this ever more relevant when considering new purchases. It's not about whether I could or should have something, it's just needing to keep in mind that there are only do many days in the month or year and almost every item will in some way " displace" another for wears. True, there are items for specific events so again, that's a good test-- does this item CREATE an opportunity or just dilute others. Even in the polar vortex winter, I was able to see I should " improve" my sweater capsule and not just expand it. And so on , and on.

You are an absolute genius. I love this!! Can't wait to go to my closet and do some counting and PURGING!!

Well summarized, Unfrumped! I'm surprised to see this resurface again. But glad. It's always good to remind myself that I can only wear so much.

Wow. So helpful. I too will be re-evaluating based on your analysis.

Wow, I missed this the first, second, and apparently third time around! Which is surprising, because this kind of htinking is righ tup my alley

I started doing this kind of math a few weeks ago, and quite frankly, had to stop because I was horrified. Also, now that I've been using Style Book regularly for about a year, I can see how many times I'm wearing my clothes, and... I'm horrified. I'm starting to get frustrated because there isn't enough days for me to wear my favs in the ways I want to, before the season is over, yet I continue to purchase. And purging is not easy for me. Sigh.

This is especially an issue with summer work clothes, because our summer is so short - really it's 2-3 months of hot weather, and in that, I'm on vacation for 2-3 weeks. Maybe this year I should commit to a SYC!

I need to do some soul searching. And speaking of soles.... I also have way too many shoes

Anyway, thanks for this Mo, and thanks for the bumping. And the chance to babble about something that's been on my mind.
