Any help for suede shoes ruined by the rain?

Yesterday I my favorite grey suede wedges got completely soaked in the rain! Now they are dry and resemble cardboard more than suede Is there any thing I could try to save them- brushing, some spray? Thanks!

Hmm...not sure what sort of remedies you could use at home, but maybe try taking them to a shoe doctor. I've heard some people have had really good luck with them making the shoes look almost good as new.

Let us know what happens.

I agree with Ana. Take them to a shoe repair place and they might have some solutions that you might not otherwise have access to.

Also in the future keep some waterproof spray. It definitely works. I have suede snow boots (silly, I know), and I always spray before wearing them. Works like a charm.

Take them to Nordstrom to fix.

I think I'll have to go to the shoe doctor. The closest Nordstrom is 45 min drive away and not accessible by public transport, and we don't own a car- Boston is a walking city.

Tanya, I'm sure you can find a cobbler closer than Nordstrom. I'm assuming your near Kendall Square (only because you said you were at MIT). A quick search revealed one called "Instant Shoe Repair" on Main Street in Cambridge. 617) 864-1801

Thanks Nicole. I'm not currently at Kendall but will be moving there in two weeks.
I have been recommended a place called 'Jimmy's Shoe Repair" on 42 prospect street back in the days when I used to buy a lot of expensive ballroom dancing shoes. I haven't checked it out tough. I think I'll call them both first, explain the problem and ask for a price estimate before going to one of them.

...and if they can't do the job, they can probably refer you to someone nearby who can. Shiny might know of someplace too.

I go to a cobbler in Newton Corner, it's near the bus station. If you can get up there by bus, let me know and perhaps we can meet for lunch! I have a pair of sandals I need to drop off anyway.
