Childhood nostalgia that made me smile! This LEGO blocks-inspired Chanel clutch comes in fun colours and is all over the blogosphere. Would you sport this playful accessory?

The “Time Machine Susan” clutch from the Bamford Watch Department and Corto Moltedo on the other hand might be more to the liking of the steampunk fans among us.

I loved the concept behind this short Refinery29 roundup: “Is there anything in your bag that only a local would have?” For me that would be an Antwerp city map (paper version, yep), metro card and my Velo card. How about you?

The Lego bags were striking but I’m not sure I would want to spend so much money on a Chanel bag that’s going to be quirky (though the last one, the transparent purse with black accents, was really really cool).

Have not read Janet’s link, but I know there are misguided people out there who think that anything that doesn’t denigrate body diversity, such as normal-sized models, plus-sized clothing, encourages women to gain weight! I have actually read this type of comment. It’s sad.

I think it’s ridiculous that Karl hasn’t sent us a Chanel Lego bag each, Inge. What is he thinking?

Nothing in my bag that a local would have. Locals here don’t use umbrellas.

Loved the interview with Isabel Marant. I like her emphasis on wearable clothes — I feel that Rag & Bone are also good at creating wearable clothes.

Hmmm, what is in my bag that is unique to my place of living? All of my keys! Everyone has several cars in this rural area, one of them is always a truck. Most everyone’s cars are old too, because cars last nicely in California. The other thing is we don’t have mail service, we have PO boxes (this can complicate on-line shopping!) so there’s another key. Add various gate keys, and you’ve got a wad of keys.

The big irony, is no one really locks their home or their cars in my rural county!

Great links. Though I am not a Chanel bag fan, I love the Lego-inspired bag. Coincidentally, I recently bought the utensils below for my children to take to school for snacks and lunch. Angie, I can’t send the bag, but I could send you a Lego spoon. LOL

The “local” bags were interesting. I am not sure. We have a lot of lip balm in the Winter and I carry a little container of Bag Balm ( used on cow udders ) for my chapped Winter skin, though I am not a cow.

I am flabbergasted that mannequins reflecting real woman is controversial. Wow.

I love Isabel Marant, that was very interesting. And I have loved the Man Repellar for quite some time. She is so witty.

What a fun link Inge. I think a small seed of curiosity has been planted and I may start always wondering what in my bag is local to where I am or will be.

As for now, it is just the library card and bus ticket holder for those days when it’s too cold to cycle to the kindergarden and back.

It was interesting to read the interview with Isabel Marant. Just today I spotted a shop where her clothing is sold as I drove past – I think I’ll walk in next time I’m in that area and look at the clothing with more awareness of the woman that’s behind it all.
