You did a FABULOUS job with the challenge Shiny! I love both outfits and the one with the clams! The contrast and unexpectedness of the T with the pretty skirt is brilliant.

OK, now I can reveal what my challenge would have been. You struck many as being a hard person to challenge because you are willing to try everything and you have outfits that are suitable for the most casual occasion all the way up to the dressiest, and lots of different styles and personas are represented in your wardrobe, which you somehow manage to wear so harmoniously and without any hint of wardrobe schizophrenia. This is no small feat to me. Anyway, the only time I have ever seen you show any resistance is when it comes to fashions that you have already worn in a previous incarnation. Angie's blog post today was very timely I would have challenged you to put together a full-on 80's inspired outfit right down to the neon nail polish! If I were really in a mean mood, I would have made you include a banded top and stirrup leggings

Shiny,
What a tremendous job.!! I love the first look with the graphic T and dressy skirt. What a great challenge for you and how practical, I hope you will get use out of both pieces. I was waiting for your brilliant response to this challenge!

I swear I posted a comment on this thread earlier. It seems to have taken a vacation to cyberspace.

WOWOW!!!I'm positively dizzy with excitement at the AC/DC tee paired with the dressy skirt. I'm a BIG AC/DC fan so bonus points ha ha! You are brilliant! The pairing of the top with the buttondown, the tee+jacket+clams, all FABULOUS! Sigh, any more inspiration and I will be bursting at my seams. Standing ovation!!!!

Shiny! The second outfit is really nice, and I absolutely love the skirt and graphic t-shirt outfit! Yay! What a great challenge, and you definitely rose to meet it.

You know I love the skirt and graphic tee outfit, as I've worn the same before. And hey-- another killer pencil skirt for Shiny. I also adore the top over a button down; it's so creative.

WOW, you are a master at this. I remember that skirt from several years ago and LOVED it. You did a great job. I hope you will now wear these pieces because they look wonderful on you....:)

I am having a little tee hee (pun intended) over the idea of the AC/DC shirt being elevated to a "graphic tee." Remember when we would have called it a "concert tee?"

Seriously, as I sort of alluded to before, this is one of those cases where time and distance lend vintage charm and cool to an object. I doubt any of us would have been cheering if Shiny had donned, say, a tee showing the logo of the Jonas Brothers... <VBG>

Shiny -- it appears unanimous that you totally rocked this challenge!

Shiny - how awesome. I would definitely keep the top because I'm sure you'll lose the 5lbs in no time once you've had some time with your potato chips ban. I now have to go rummage my t-shirt pile. I LOVE the contrast pairing. You are so super creative!

I love this look. It's amazing. I can't really add more to what others have said. I'm just taking a page from wayne and garth (who would totally appreciate the shirt) and chanting, "I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy." Ha!

Maya, you crack me up with your idea of a challenge for Shiny!

Shiny, care to do a personalized challenge as Maya described? Ahem ... probably not ...

Along the same lines, if Angie was playing we could challenge her with an outfit from '70s You know, full-blown boho complete with bell-bottoms ... that could be fun ...

Maya - I'm so glad you didn't draw me! I don't think I'd have liked that challenge!

Patience, I had you in mind when I was working on this challenge!!! I have always admired how you pair graphic tee with a dressier pencil skirt. I've liked the look on Jcrew's site as well, and a few weeks ago I was even surfing their tee shirts for one that might work with this skirt. I was thinking something in a soft peach, which really isn't my color. I was thrilled to find DD's AC/DC tee deep within her dresser because the gold in the logo goes with the gold brocade in the skirt.

So the question is, would you all wear this outfit, perhaps with ballet flats, out and about during the day? I can't seem to get my mind around the idea of wearing a brocade skirt in the day. Night out to an art opening or play or just to dinner - absolutely. But just running around in the day? Or to work? Would you do it? Or am I the only one who can't get past visions of this presented in AT advertising as a Holiday special occasion skirt?

Shiny, you are the queen of thinking outside the box! I love how you raided your DD's closet (AC/DC? They're still around? Heh--love them!).

I wouldn't wear a brocade skirt during the day, but if anyone could pull it off, you could! I think it'd be feasible for work, at least, less so for running about. Maybe brunch and shopping with your girlfriends. Did Angie blog about wearing evening wear during the day, or did I imagine reading about it somewhere?

I would and do wear brocade during the day.

I'm glad I didn't pick you either Shiny. I don't think I would have wanted you to resent me so much But hey, if I had to wear lace and heels...!

Wow Shiny, both outfits are amazing. Can't go past the skirt one though, it has truly blown me away! I hope you get to wear it out someday!!!

late again, but i really want to make sure i see and comment on every outfit that gets posted in this challenge. shiny, as predicted, you ROCKED it! and literally too, with an AC/DC tee! i am biased because i LOVE them, but i think you could've worn a hannah montana tee and i'd have been just as impressed ;). have you decided if you'll keep the top?
