Yet more sandals

Since we're all discussing comfort sandals, I thought I would post/ask about these:

They are Naots that are not currently in production but I found a limited number still in stock in a pretty pearly coral in a B&M store.

As I mentioned, I tend to prefer a dainty sandal but since their comfort level is pretty poor and I walk often, hard, and fast, I think I am better off getting something more suitable for that purpose. These sort of have the daintiness while still having a sturdy sole. What do you guys think? Are they acceptable? Too granola?

I'm still keeping the Clarks Gelato in mind, and might even keep them as a sleeker and prettier alternative, but for every day use would the Naots work? I almost bought some Naots after bunion surgery (I mentioned this elsewhere) but my foot was too swollen to wear them at the time so I returned them. I remember thinking they seemed comfortable for a normal, non-post-surgical foot though.

I also love the ones Brianna posted but they are too $$$ for me. The Angelas are on super sale.

Maya - I'm thinking you can totally wear with that type of sandal since your legs are so nice and long and you don't have to worry about the "stump" factor (like I do.) Also, you would be wearing them with stylish clothes, and I think you could make it all look good.

I actually bought a pair of Naots about two years ago, before I knew anything about style. Of course, I wore them the worst possible way - with mid-calf light color chinos. I was also a bit heavier, and let's just say it was not a good look for me.

Soon after that, I started reading YLF and tucked those sandals away in total shame and forgot all about them. I just now got them out of the closet after reading your post and I have to say - they are really comfortable. I have them on right now with my boot cut jeans and while they are not "dainty," they really don't look THAT bad. Yes, they're still a little bit "crunchy granola" (as we used to call it), but I think with the boot cuts they look fine. I have to thank you for helping me "rediscover" a new pair of shoes!

The ones I have are plain black, so if you bought some in a pretty color, I think you'd look even better. These are basically the ones I have:

I really like those and think that you would wear them well!!
I wore the same style naots for years because of the comfort factor, they really are great for hours. I doubt I will wear these much this summer other than for gear type outings but maybe I could get away with bootcuts. Yours are much better looking. Theses are the clunkos I wore, Angie would die!!

I thought they were kind of funky at the time, I will still have to wear them at some point because they are really like slippers with support!

My concern with this style of sandal is that I do have a bit of a boho edge in my wardrobe and I'm afraid these will just push me over the edge into out-and-out hippiedom. Comfort is truly my priority though. I might just have to experiment with what I wear with it or old out for the Brianna version. Hmm.

Maya, these sandals look great. I totally get what you mean by wanting something more "dainty", but let's be realistic, most dainty sandals are not meant for extensive walking. I will be right there with you this summer, in some Naots or Eccos or other comfort brand, as long as they are still somewhat stylish looking, and these do fit the bill. E.g. I like the wedge, which already makes them look sleeker than as if they were totally flat. Go for it if (IF) they are super comfortable. (BTW I see you as having an arty style, not really a boho one, and I don't think these sandals would catapult you into hippiedom, no worries.)

Maya, I think those sandals are very nice and they really don't seem hippie to me. The wedge really helps and the colour you described sounds GREAT. I've found that the cork part of Naot shoes tends to be a lot less obvious than the cork sole on Birkenstocks. These would probably be great everyday sandals.

Disappointing news: They did not have my size anymore I should have just got them when I had the chance. I'm keeping an eye on ebay for them, and tying the Brulees tomorrow.

Naots are VERY comfortable, with one very important caveat: they don't come in wide widths. So if your feet are narrow to average, certainly try them.

Unfortunately, I cannot wear them because my feet are wide (such rotten luck - I live in the Naot's country!).

Hope you'll find your sandals on ebay!

I have a pair of super comfy aerosoles from last summer that are dainty. I wish I would have gotten two pairs last year because I can't find anymore this year. They are called Hypnotic & here's what they look like:

I got them in black. They are 8-hour shoes for me. If you like the style, I can try searching online to see if I can find them available anywhere.

Maya that shoe reminds me of some sandals I saw on ON/Gap/BR's new sister site, Athleta. Specifically reminds me of this one:

But they have a couple diffirent pair of sandals on that site that look like they would be very comfy.

I found my sandal match today, but thank you ladies for the suggestions. Christine, I'm amazed that you find those comfortable! Those skinny little straps would be like piano wire digging into my foot. They are pretty, and definitely very dainty though. I hope you can find them again.

Confession: I tried the Brulees on yesterday but didn't love them. I prefer more of a heel, which I know is crazy. I did also find two of my favorite pairs from previous summers at the Clarks outlet -- and in my size! But I was strong and resisted them. That might have been because I also found another pair of comfy flat sandals in the back of my closet -- I had forgotten all about them. Turns out, they're actually perfect for my style now; like you had said earlier, because you already have a boho edge, you worried that a boho sandal would tip you over into a hippie look. I don't have any boho in my style at all, and these sandals are definitely that -- so in the end, they balance nicely with the rest of my look.

Anyway. Didn't mean too hijack your thread. What sandals did you end up with?

Kristen, Kari didn't like them either for the same reason. I don't think the look is for everyone. I just replied in that thread, but basically, since I have never been able to wear heels, I haven't gotten used to them so I have not built up any sort of preference for them. I'm sure I would look better in them, but I find them impractical, and not enough of a game-changer to really feel a void in my wardrobe.

Glad you found sandals that will work for you and your non-boho style. Now that I have a less clunky sandal, I realized the Naots would have probably not been as versatile anyway. I would have had to stick to a wider leg opening, even though my favorite jeans are straight legs.

I'm confused - did I say I didn't like the Clark sandals? I don't remember saying so about the Brulees or the Gelatos. I'm not a fan of the traditional gladiators (wrapped up the ankle) or the "birdcage"-style shoes (since most of them are so high that my arches kill just to look at them.) However, I really don't see "gladiator" when I look at the Brulees. They remind me of a sleek and grown-up version of my favorite summer sandals when I was a kid.

I actually tried out the Brulee sandals in the Clarks store and was amazed at how comfy they are. Because I really don't have any summer sandals (I have one lone pair of flip flops) I decided it would be worth trying them out, so I have them on order using the shoes.com discount (thanks so much for the tip!)
Usually I stay far away from shoes with a narrow toe box because my toes are the widest part of my foot (the rest of my foot is somewhat long and narrow.) However, I have been really surprised by Clarks - shoes that look like they will be too narrow in the toe actually end up being very stretchy and comfortable, and the sole/arch support is divine. I actually ended up finding a pair of pumps to wear for a summer wedding, too. Yay!

Anyway, Maya, I'm glad the Brulees are working so far! I hope you'll let us know how they hold up as you keep trying them. Mine will probably be here within a few weeks & then I'll have a chance to try them around the house.
