Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Woven woes...

I really like the look of this top. It's kind of a tunic blouse, and at $25 it's hard to beat. I'm just wondering if I can pull it off. I generally steer clear of woven tops because they don't sit right over my chest, but there's an exception to every fashion rule, right? Well, other than the Crocs-can-never-be-stylish rule.

Im not sure I understand what you mean by "woven tops ....don't sit right over my chest." Is it ALL woven fabrics? This top has spandex in it, so it's going to have some stretch and give and probably better drape over your body.

Can you return the top if you don't like it? Or sell it on Ebay if it wouldn't be worth the shipping and return fees? Also, I think it looks a little stiff on the model because she has it buttoned up. Well, you'll never know unless you try it on, right?

Unbuttoned to show a cami will elongate the line on this shirt and prevent ” bust button popping” despite the fact that it has a bit of stretch. Will the length hit the widest part of your body?

I understand your woven woes. I was with a client yesterday who has to have her woven tops tailor made because she's busty with an extra small waist. I also need to blog about the difference between knits and wovens. This is not as obvious as I thought.

Nicole, it would take a lot of stretch for most woven tops to fit both my chest AND waist. Most of the time I get the tent effect. I can certainly return it, but Tulle's shipping is a lot for just one top, so if I end up not liking it, I would end up spending half of what the shirt costs just in shipping fees.

Angie, I only caught on to the difference recently myself and now it seems obvious, but since I would just shop for "tops" regardless of fabrication. it confused me for a long time.

Oh, and the top will probably hit me slightly lower than it does on the model since I'm petite and short-waisted.

Thanks Mayapple. Would you need to shorten the sleeves? They have detailing that might not allow this.

I actually don't usually have a problem with sleeve length. My limbs are pretty long. I'm just not used to wearing this kind of top and since I can't try it on, I'm not sure if I should bother taking the risk. Too bad they don't have a brick-and-mortar store.

Quite right. Why don't you wait until you find more things from Tulle that you like and ship/return in one go. I encourage the experimentation of new looks but am on the fence about this top. You really need to try it on in the right size to make a final judgment call.

I don't love it so much that I can't live without it. I'll probably find something else I like more.
