What do you ladies think of this look?

Specifically, pencil skirt with ankle length socks and booties or interesting pumps. I am really drawn to it, but I need to have a drink before I attempt it.

I am sure you could pull this of beautifully Danja! I admire the look, but will stay away from it personally since it will do nothing good for my short legs.

i like it best with the strapped pumps and not at all with the booties. i'm strangely drawn to it too...can't wait to see what you pull off!

I like it for my age and personal style, which is why I already do it. Some people will look absolutely silly in it because it is NOT their style. It depends. I stick to black though. I'm not really convinced of those bright colors.

This would be a step to far for me but I admire people who can wear this look well. The J Crew image reminds of the picture perfect challenge image of the lady standing on the board games, but that may just be me!

The slacks have GOT to be tapered. I will be on my way to apoplexy hell if they are not!

I can see the young little Chinese lasses in Hong Kong sport this look with panache. You need youth on your side as far as the colours go. If it’s a more neutral monotone look, it’s possible to make the outfit look more “grown up”. But I don’t think it adds anything to your style to sport this look when you’re older. For that reason, I would not sport it. Does that make sense?

I wouldn't do it because my legs are a bit muscular for this look, so I like a longer line for them. I love it on others though! (Oh, but only your idea of a pencil skirt, Danja- I'm not so crazy about the ides of attempting it with trousers.)

Kidding aside, my husband too told me last night that I was about 10 years too old for that style.

Oh well, I am still going to take a picture of the outfit I was thinking of wearing and post it on the forum just so I can say I did it.

Funny thing is that this morning I wore peep-toe black oxfords with bare legs and pencil skirt, and because I was leaving really early for work, my husband, still on his 1st cup of coffee, looked at me and said: "So you are wearing the socks after all?" Then we had a good laugh.
