Hi Ladies,

I loved Phoebe's soft leather skirt and bootie ensemble and it inspired me to get my leather skirt out.

The photos really highlight my tummy but in the mirror it looked fine ??? Thats my story anyway *wink*. The long jacket minimises the attention on the tummy/hips and I will be keeping the jacket on in the office.

I wear this blouse a lot but today is the first time I have worn it to work.

There is a chance there is too much going on here but I liked the end result. Quite a few varying textures.

Black Leather Pencil Skirt
Navy spotted blouse
Long line black "puckered" / boucle look jacket (I like cos it has a bit of a Chanel vibe)
Opaque hide with dots
Booties with suede and detail trim.

Does it work?

Taking photos was a challenge this morning as Master 9 and DH think the funniest thing is to stick there arms into the frame and run across in front of the camera ... boys lol.

I love all the patterns and textures Deborah! Well done. I am wondering how it would look with semi-sheer tights -- have you tried that?

I for one, love all of the different textures going on when the outfit is black/dark like this. It adds so much interest and you look smashing! I love everything here and those booties are like nothing I've ever seen (are you going steampunk on us Deborah?).
My fitted skirts do the same thing across the midsection. It probably doesn't appear so shiny IRL. Sometimes I wear my blouse out and belt on top and sometimes I just tuck and go with it. The scarf is a great distraction.

Will try that cceiel - but at the moment given it's winter the heavier hose is better cos it's so cold.

Claire I wondering if the booties were more 'baroque'?? I don't quite understand 'steam punk'. I need someone to define it for me:)

The monochromatic colour scheme helps keep the noise down, so it doesn't seem like too much going on. It's a nice outfit.

Would you have a longish black vest or draped cardigan you could wear with this to recreate the vertical lines you get with the coat? That first picture looks really wonderful.

And yes I do have a draped long cardigan that would work too. Thank for reminding me. This jacket, however is not lined and quite light to wear and is good for layering for warmth, so it's actually more of an indoor piece than an actual outerwear:)

I think you look great both with and without the distracting over layers. I love the mix of textures and those are very cool boots. My own almost 10 year old DS is too oblivious to even realize I am taking pictures!

I vote sheer black hose or textured black hose to LIGHTEN the look. To my eye, that will look fresher and prettier with your blonde hair and fair skin.

Thanks Angie. I going to look for some sheer but textured hose over the next couple of days. Leona Edmiston does some great hose but its pricey and I need to be sure they wont snag on the first wear:) I agree with you tho that lightening this look will be a great improvement. And I realise I can always layer nude hose underneath for the warmth.:)

I'm excited that you are going to try my suggestion, Debs. Basic black sheer hose is cheap as chips and that is also an option

Loving this outfit (sorry I am so late to the party!) This is a great fall to winter outfit and I agree with Angie, I think sheer black hose would be great with this. Love the mixed fabric booties! What a great heel height.
