Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

what do you think of this skirt

I was thinking of getting this skirt for a meditation retreat. (comfortable for sitting cross legged. My hesitation is that maybe it's too casual and the hemline looks a little sloppy. What do you think?

I was also considering this with a cardigan. It probably needs hemming.

For a meditation retreat, I think both would work nicely, with some hemming.

Thanks, Tanya How would you dress your legs in these? It'll probably be a little too cold to go bare.

Hmm, that's a tough one . Bare is what would come to mind. Both silky sheer hose and micro fishnets would be to dressy. Maybe simple black opaque tights?

That sounds good. I was thinking similarly.

Meditation retreat sounds heavenly. How about layering a pair of black leggings under the skirt and wearing flats - and if it's cold, you could add a pair of socks and boots?

Yes, Laura, exactly what I was thinking. Thanks

I like the ideas posted for the leggings and socks and boots. That sounds very comfortable and cute.
I have the dress myself in a different color. It really is comfortable but quite long, and I am 5'8". It would be cute with a cardigan and the same shoes you wear with the skirt.

Thanks, San. Where would you suggest it fall on the leg. Just below the knee?
or, at the mid-calf?

I like the skirt but I LOVE the dress. I bet it would be more comfy and less fussy than seperates. If you're planning to hem, I'd suggest warm leggings underneath to keep you covered and to keep you warm. If you're doing a lot of sits, your body temperature will drop and you don't want to be cold while meditating.

Thanks BLB. I'm not good at all with color. I bought the black dress but not sure what color cardigan to wear. Any ideas? Also, should the cardigan be v neck since the dress is vneck?
I tried on a pretty cardigan at express in a blue that looks good on my coloring but it was round neck and I had my doubts that it would work with the dress... what do you think I should look for?
Also, any ideas on where the hem should fall. i'm short 5 4 so will probably to hem since San is 5 8 and needed to hem hers.

I would think any colour of cardigan would work. My first thought was something in a blue tone, like turquoise. I don't know about necklines... I'd think a V would be best. Maybe you could bring a pashmina-type scarf to wrap around your neck if you do get chilly in that area during the sits.
