What colored accessories would go with a burgundy/maroon dress?

After going on a mad hunt for a cocktail dress (unfortunately none of the beautiful dresses fit me due to my weird body shape!), I finally bought this one I am not even sure if it is cocktail appropriate? The dress hits me on my knee.

Since it's a simple dress, I was thinking of these http://www.ninewest.com/Martin.....st-catalog shoes to add some pattern and interest into the outfit. Or black pumps?

For accessories, I was thinking of a black hose, necklace and clutch.

Or do you think gold / nude accessories and shoes would look better?

Please help!!!!!!

The animal print shoes would be great with this dress. I think knee length is fine for a cocktail party.

I don't know how dressy you have to be but love the idea of leopard or snake with the dress! Either silver or gold would work. I like brown with deep red, but you could use about any color. Except you may want to avoid green except possibly for the holidays
ETA: I just noticed your questions about back or nude. It's hard to tell without seeing you. If your hair is light, go with the nude.

Thanks Amy and Joy! It's a formal cocktail party (DH's company). I have black hair. So black necklace and clutch would be better?

When wearing burgundy/maroon it is best to look for rich colour's like black,brown,gray or even cream.Using one of these colour's is more sophisticated and elegant and i totally agree with the others by wearing leopard skin heels or even a cream colour wedge heel it will bring out the burgundy colour.

I like the dress! In addition to the other suggestions, you might consider a metallic like pewter, silver or gold.

So here's my final outfit with the accessories and shoes. I would add my gold watch and the animal print clutch to the outfit,

I already own the sandals in the picture. I did not want to invest in leopard pumps right now as I also own leopard flats. And black accessories was making the entire outfit a bit too dark.

Do you think the overall outfit works?

Hi Neel, I like your idea of using what you already have and the accessories you chose really brighten up the outfit. However, I would have to ask - how formal is the cocktail event? Take it for what it's worth, but I come from a more corporate / conservative environment, and when I go to cocktail events I tend to wear dressier shoes than the ones in your pic. Only you know the degree of dressiness required. Also, would weather be any factor? I know I would be cold in those shoes if I had to be outside at all - but again only you know the environment you'll be in. Good luck!

I think what you've put together is cute, but I agree with abc that the sandals dress it down some. It looks a touch summery, too...which is fine if you live in a warm climate.

If you want to dress the look up without spending too much, I think adding a metallic that's not too expensive would be perfect.

You'll get tons of use out of this dress sinc eye can. Have the look so easily.

Hmmm, I am not so sure on the heels, but it might look different on. If it is formal, especially corporate, closed toe pumps might be a better choice. Do you have any you could use?

Thanks abc and Dana for the inputs! I think I would have to get a dressier sandal! It does look a bit casual for a corporate/dressy event.

ETA - It might be a bit chill once I get into the arctic AC! Otherwise the weather would be just perfect

@Thistle - I seem to have a cupboard full of things that I cannot use! I have black closed toe pumps which might not go well with my choice of accessories?

My current wardrobe situation - Loads of casual stuff (for my MOTG lifestyle) and absolutely NO formal clothes/shoes
