Wedding Dresses - Big Fat Try On

- about some options for dresses to wear to my little sister's wedding in April. It is in NZ, so an autumn wedding.

Here is the first dress, one I already own. It is silk, from Jigsaw (I think that you mentioned it is a favourite of yours Angie?) - http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/.....directlink
I actually wear it a lot to work with a black cardigan. Probably would wear it with finer tights and higher shoes.

I can wear it with the sash tied at the back or the side. I would buy some coloured jewellery to go with it. Not sure what colour, red is the most obvious.

What do you think? Should have really powdered my face before hand?

I like the dress with the black bow at the side best although all are beautiful and have potential to be the one.

Great Plains! Oh please, please, please wear that one Fi, I love it on you! The colours are fab with your skin and hair and it just seems the most festive for a wedding. Love it with the shoes and tux jacket, too.

Esprit is pretty, but it just doesn't say "I'm so happy because my sister is getting married!" to me.

The Great Plains dress is gorgeous! LOVE it with the boyfriend blazer actually :0)

Have to say that I love the Esprit dress too. I'd make the bow a tie and add red shoes. You look very pretty :0)

I love both #2 and #3, but I think #3 wins out by just a little.

Wow, I LOVE the Great Plains dress. The fit and colors are gorgeous on you. That is absolutely my favorite of the bunch.

I think you and I may have the same tights as you're wearing in the first photo!

Don't you just look FAB in them all:) I must say 2&3 are amazing on you. I am such a fan of the black and white...but those blues are GORGEOUS against your skin...I am no help:)

I agree with all. The espirit dress is gorgeous on you, and the great plains is a 10 for sure. I think if it's a daytime wedding/outdoor I might go with the Espirit dress. But if it's a night time, or more formal wedding I would go with Great Plains. Does that help break the seeming tie?

All of the dresses are fab Fi, I would discount the first dress as you have already worn in to work so it is unlikely to make you feel special enough.

Dress two, is lovely and would look fab with the bright accessories you suggested.

Dress three has the most gorgeous colours and is so flattering against your skin. I think dress three edges it for me.

So no concensus then...

I am leaning towards the Great Plains dress. I don't have anything in bright blues, most of my dresses are muted or darker colours. I think that if it was a summer wedding I would go with the Esprit dress. I think that I would get more wear out of the blue one too - we have a glam party at work in June and I would wear that dress then.

Kari - I love these tights and wish that I had bought more than one pair as they have a slight snag.

Ele, Julie & Angie - I thought that the blue dress would be a winner with you all

Julie - Dress A was good enough for the Queen

San - I really am not a natural in front of the camera, but I have learnt a lot about posing (and hopefully looking comfortable) from looking at photos on YLF - especially yours.

I love the 2nd and 3rd dress, my final vote between the two would be the 3rd! It's so flattering, and such great colours, it looks great on you, such a happy dress!

Love 2 & 3...but for a wedding, #3 gets my vote. the colors look so wonderful on you!

For an autumn wedding, the Great Plains dress is the one! Plus the length of the dress shows off those pretty legs of yours!

Count another vote for the Great Plains dress! As much as I love the blakc/white classic style of the Espirit, those blues/teals in the Great Plains dress look amazing with your coloring and would be perfect for autumn.

That jacket looks wonderful with it too and would be great to bring along for when the day cools down.

Are you thinking of new shoes at all? Because that dress would be fun to add special shoes to. . .

Thank you all again for all of your comments - I can't lie - reading them was a great boost to my confidence!

Definitely going with the blue dress - the black one is going back to Esprit today!

I sent the photo of me in it to my Mum and Dad, and even Dad liked it - so I hope that it will be a winner.

Now, the next question is shoes. I really like the ones that I am wearing in the photo and I have worn them in (to cocktail parities for work and also on NYE), so even though they are a 4 inch heal I know that they will be comfortable. But should I consider another colour?

I think the black shoes look very current against the blue dress, especially if you are adding a black jacket. Black shoes would also give you more hosiery options too.

Honestly Fi, I don't think you need new shoes. There's black in the print and the black shoes and jacket look GREAT with the dress. With all those colours going on the only other thing I'd suggest would be a dark metallic (pewter or something), but even that doesn't seem exciting enough to warrant spending on new shoes. You've got a fab outfit already, focus on jewelry and your handbag now.
