Wearing a trench over a fitted jacket

Today I had on the ATL fitted ruffle jacket and had to go out for errands in the cold wind so I put on my AT trench.

It felt funny to have on the trench over the jacket but maybe it is just because I have not worn a lot of jackets with coats over them yet.

what do you think?

I also have never worn a trench over a fitted jacket but I thought they were meant to go together.

Hmm, it seems a bit strange to me too but only because I think of a trench as a more between seasons look. I would wear a wool coat over a fitted jacket

I have never worn both but wonder how bulky it would be. It seems that if a trench fit over a jacket it would be too big for wearing on its own. But if yours can do both I don't see a problem with it.

As a water-resistant coat for a rainy day I'd wear a trench over a fitted jacket if it fit. In fact I'm thinking of keeping a coat that's now at least a size too big for layering over bulkier items, but haven't tried it yet.

If my outfit for the day includes a jacket, but it's too chilly outside to wear just the jacket I'll wear my trench coat over it all. It can feel a bit bulky, but if it doesn't *look* bulky, I think it's fine. Though sometimes adding a scarf to the jacket makes it warm enough without the trench.

Isn't this odd; it would never have occurred to me NOT to wear a trench over a jacket. It seems like a fine choice.

It's cool and rainy today. I tried my trench over a longish fitted wool blazer and I think it works. It doesn't feel tight or bulky like I'd expected.

Fine choice! I know it can feel bulky, but unless it looks bulky this is totally a "go" and the right thing in this season.
