Vintage jewelry, how to wear?

When Sandy, Patience, Ana and I got together a few weeks ago in Gruene, TX, we stopped by an antique shop and Ana found a lovely vintage necklace for me that I absolutely love. We brainstormed a few ideas on how to wear it, but I'm curious to see if you all have any additional suggestions for me. I realize this may not have as much wear until the fall.

That's gorgeous- what about with a plain white button down (or black, or other solid) and a nice pair of dress pants and pumps?

That is a beautiful chain. Where does it fall on you? Could you use it with a pendant? It could also easily be layered with other chains or necklaces.

I see it as very romantic with a ruffled blouse, the pendant hanging amongst the ruffles. An off white blouse would show off the beautiful color of the pendant. Maybe not a crisply ironed cotton blouse because I think a crsip white blouse would make the chain look old. Possibly something that has some slouch to it like silk or jersey. Maybe a silk with a color that is leaning towards the gold of the chain.
Good find, it is so you!!! I'm glad I was there when you found it. We had so much fun in that antique store. I'm begining to think that Texas is a great place to shop antiques.
Let's see I ended up with a turquoise necklace and a cameo on silver with matching earrings, which I would not wear as earrings but I didn't want to break up the set. I love cameo's and I would love to collect them. Maybe I will start keeping my eyes open for them.
Oh I wish we could do that day again!

OOps, after reading San's post I went back and found that if I move the screen, there is indeed a pendant that I didn't see the first time. I could see this layered with a string of pearls if they are just a bit shorterthan the pendant. You could even weave narrow ivory or rose satin or silk ribbon through the chain for an extra romantic look.

Does the pendant slide off the chain? If so, I would wear the pendant on a multistrand black leather necklace. Very fun!

I would layer it up with other necklaces also.

How long is the chain? Is it long enough to wear 2x around your neck (or maybe with an extender?). Or, could you add some ribbon to the end of it & make a fun unique chain/pendant belt out of it as well?

Lot's of possibilities!

I don't think you have to wear this with a romantic, vintagey outfit. Not that there's anything wrong with that approach. Just saying that it might add some edge to contrast it with an outfit that is not romantic at all. Like wear it with a menswear-inspired blazer? Or a tough black leather moto jacket?

I also love the idea of layering with a pearl necklace! Brilliant!
