Trying on white clamdiggers and black blazers

I think I found a pair of white denim clamdiggers -- and I wasn't even looking for them! Found during a trip to ATF this weekend; they were having a buy one pant, get the 2nd 50% off sale, plus I had a 15% off coupon. Of course, it's possible I'll be down a whole other size before it gets to be time to wear these, so the tags will remain on until I leave for Tucson in June.

I've never owned or worn clams before. Did I get the cut and length right? (They are still a little snug, but they won't be for long. So ignore that part.)

I also picked up a couple of smart-casual blazers that I have been looking for ages for: one is a simple black with 3/4 sleeves, the other is with white piping, and is a little heavier for early spring/fall. Both were on clearance, and eligible for the b1g50% deal and the coupon. So I got them for a song!

Worn out to dinner with DH last night, with the new green-purple banded top, the turquoise bag, and a new silver cuff bracelet:

The clam diggers look the perfect length to me and not even too tight, especially with a hip length top. (LOL@" OMG, I have a booty!" I felt the same way when I first put on AT white clam diggers)
I'd rate your first black jacket outfit a 10! I just love it! You look fab!
The second jacket and whole outfit is also great on you. I love it with the green graphic tee. Wow!

Kristen, you look so terrific in the outfit you wore to dinner- perfect! Love the blazer, the shirt, the accessories. You are a poster child for how well smart casual can work.

The clams look right to me- I'm still getting used to the look of the white-piping jackets, so I'll have to let others chime in about that.

I think both blazers are great. I especially love the piped one for it's sass. I know you'll be able to pull that out even more. I prefer outfit one to outfit two for the black blazer, which is all about the too big pants as opposed to the jacket. Your return from the shopping ban is going well.

The clams length looks great, but I'm not overly fond of the pocket details. (I'm not fond of those types of pockets on *me*, so take that with a grain of salt)

Nicely done Kristen - not only do they seem to fit you well, they seem "you" - you wear them well and they look natural. I too shy away from pockets on clams but somehow it seems to work without being too distracting.

Kristin, I like the length and shape of the clams, but I need to see them with a longer top. I’m not sure whether those side patch pockets are flattering. Does that make sense?

I'm not sure about the patch pockets on the clams either, but like has already been mentioned a longer top might take care of that. Other than that, they're great.

The date night outfit is perfect.

Thanks for the feedback, all! I felt pretty fab in the dinner outfit so I'm glad you all liked it. And the blazers are definite keepers. What a relief!

I do understand all the hesitation about the porkchop pockets; I have the same concerns. (I tried the same clams in a dark wash on and the pockets were stiched in lighter thread. TRAGICALLY UGLY. *g*) Thanks for the suggestion of a longer top, Angie, I will see if that helps! I went with a short one so you could see the whole pants this time. I am a fan of back-flap pockets because it does help flat booties get some better definition, although sometimes they stick out too much.

I'll try with a longer top and see. They're still keeping the tags until crunch time anyway, but I'm glad to know I'm on the right track.

I second all the comments about the white clams. Good for you for trying something new. Maybe the side pockets can be hidden under longer tops? Or removed completely?

I agree with others' comments, but had to add - that piped blazer is fabulous.

Lena, the piped blazer is from Ann Taylor Factory. Found it on the clearance rack, along with the other new jacket.

It is a heavier fabric so I'm not sure how much use it will get this spring now that we're finally warming up, but I anticipate it will get a lot of use this fall and winter!
