Trina Turk purple and orange dress (photos)

Awhile back I mentioned that I was in love with this dress

So as soon as I saw it at Nordstrom Rack, I bit.

Then I got to wondering if maybe I ought to size up.

What do you think? Is the dress a 10 on me? I haven't tried accessorizing it yet, because I don't want to get my hopes up if it isn't perfect.

Also, here is another dress that I got. I love Nicole Miller dresses (Nordstrom ones) because they're so pretty and often made of super comfy material.

I really really love the Trina Turk dress. The colour combination is amazing but I would wonder about the neckline. How comfortable are you with that low of a neckline?

Love both dresses on you! I think the larger size in the Trina Turk dress gives you more coverage on top and looks like it fits great! The smaller size looks great too...just more Va-Va-Voom! The Nicole Miller dress is fun too! Good stuff!

Wow, the Trina dress is totally a 10!! The smaller size is smoking, showing all the right curves on you, which you can totally pull off. But if you are self conscious of the low neckline, the larger size looks just as fabulous.

I also love Nicole Miller dress, but have yet to own one. I love the one you got, the wrap is super flattering and the colors are perfect for spring.

Love both dresses on you. I'm hesitant to comment on the neckline, but decided that if we can tell people their dresses are too short, we can comment on the northern end of the garment I much prefer the larger size for the coverage aspect. Personally, I feel that the smaller size is way too revealing.

Gorgeous dresses! Both sizes of the TT dress look great -- if you want something that hugs your curves and is super sexy, go with the smaller size. But if you want something a bit less sexy, I'd go with the larger size! My personal preference is the larger size.

That dress is a 10 on you for sure! I'd recommend the larger size, also. It doesn't look too big, and it's probably more comfortable.

Both dresses are HOT, but the larger one is done in a more sleek and tasteful way to my eye. Your curves are still come through loud and clear but it fits a lot better at the bust. The first one just looks a little uncomfortable, like you were sewn into it. It's a very alluring dress as it is--you don't need mounds of cleavage.

I just realized on seeing your pictures that YOUR hair is what I was going for, btw.

The Nicole Miller dress is pretty too! You look amazing in dresses.

Forced out of just reading and into commenting because - these look fantastic on you!! I love them both.

I personally prefer the larger sized one of the TT dress. Remembering that you were eyeing it for Easter Sunday is part of my thinking, but also it is just so very classy in the slightly larger fit and still skims your curves. Just perfect!

The Nicole Miller is gorgeous.

Both dresses are absolute tens.

You inspire me to stop buying here today gone tomorrow cheapies at Target and start trying to buy more quality pieces!

That's an awesome color combo, purple+orange. Love it! I'd go with the larger size; it's not as "in your face" and doesn't seem to pull in the middle area as much. The print of the Nicole Miller dress is gorgeous. So springy, and it looks beautiful on you.

Bryan loves the dress period. He likes the smaller one, but I told him I could only wear it on dates - I wouldn't even fill in the neckline and attempt to wear it anywhere else. So he understands. I agree with whoever said that the larger dress still accentutes curves without being overly sexy like the smaller dress.
So the larger size it is. I figure if I ever need to have it taken in, I can. But I'm more comfortable with the larger size in the neckline for sure. It will allow me to put a small stitch in to keep the cross over closed.
I grew up not wearing anything lower than my collar bone, so initially I was uncomfortable with anything lower than that, but I'm getting more comfortabe in my own skin. I don't ever want to be gross, but I think this dress is pretty classic and flattering. Plus, I do plan on filling in the neckline with something.
Shana, thanks for the link! Bella showed me that when I started a topic about this dress awhile back. That helps a lot.
I can sit in the smaller one, but it certainly isn't comfy.
I'm not planning on wearing this for Easter now - unless I can find accessories in time. I have another option just in case.
The NM dress was a steal and I just really like the back. I live in this type of dress in our summers. I will probably wear a cami with it but I need to get some without the bra piece sewn in because those flatten my chest and my proportions look bizarre.
agrace, my husband encourages me to do the same. I just took three huge bags of things to sell at Buffalo Exchange because I had far too many clothes that I don't wear. I'd rather have fewer "10s" than a bunch of stuff that's just okay. You don't have to pay a lot to get 10s either, so it isn't always price tag related.

Sarah, I'm chiming in late but, 10s all the way baby! You look SO gorgeous in the Trina Turk dress, its unbelievable. The Nicole Miller dress is a lot of fun! I love how it flaunts your figure. I've only ever bought Nicole Miller underwear from TJMaxx and love them to pieces
