Shirley and Angie, I must have cross-posted with you both before I left for the banquet. Thank you so much! Angie I'm not surprised you like the more minimal outfits.
Sveta, good idea about the low contrast. I usually break up my black or white with something in the middle so it blends with my own contrast level.
Shevia, thanks for your insight. I think I could roll my blazer sleeves down and simplify outfit #8. Ditto for the one over the striped shirt (#3) that some of the others weren't crazy about. I was worried that leaving the chambray shirt sleeves down it wouldn't look "fashion-y" enough. It seems we are gravitating toward more simple looks these days.
LBD, thank you! I actually wore #16 tonight (DD requested I wear my sparkly sweater). I wore my long khaki trench on top because it was pretty cold and I was worried about my newly cleaned cream jacket in a restaurant where ketchup bottles live on every table.
Pil, too funny. I am surprised that the denim on denim came out as well as it did. It bothered me that they were an "almost-but-not-quite-perfect" match. The brown boots and belt helped to make it work. I seem to do well in mid tones like this because of my own mid to low contrast. Hmmmmm. For my own favorites, it would have to be the cream on cream looks. As soon as I got them on, I just felt radiant. I also love the ones with the scarf and black blazer. They make me feel vaguely equestrienne.
Gigi, thanks for your thoughts. I will probably try those outfits you mentioned with the sleeves rolled down for a less busy look. It should be warmer, too!
K, The K! You are too sweet. Yes, I can easily to a semi-tuck in back with my tails. I think DH is on the same wavelength as you. He kept asking me if I could tuck the whole shirt in (and I can). It even works tucked into my denim pencil skirt for summer. I just didn't want to overload you guys with ALL the pictures.
Susie, Missey and Alasse, thanks for your votes.
Suz, I'm glad you weighed in (hope your Mom is okay tomorrow and that you're not packing a bag right now). You always say the nicest things. I hope you are right about the jeans. Already I'm noticing the legs of the white and black ones bagging out. Bummer! They are the non-AGLs. (White are CoH and black are Joe's). Oh well you win some and you loose some. The reason I'd like to layer the chambray shirt over thin sweaters is partly to get my neck covered a little without using a scarf. The shirt itself provides some extra warmth too, and having a collar helps. We'll see how often I actually do this and how well it works. At least no one will be able to see the pills on the striped sweater this way, lol! I am just LOVING the clutch, thanks.
