What a venomous thing to say. It sounds like you absolutely handled her with aplomb, but those kinds of hateful remarks can still sting a teeny bit. I hope that you know deep down that she is full of it. You are looking more and more fab every day, and you seem so happy in your pics! It must be somehow making her feel worse about herself or something, and so she is striking out at you.

It is pretty unbelievable that anybody can be that rude. She definitely has a inferiority complex and you just make her feel more inferior with you newly found fabness! Actually I pity her because it looks like she lives in some warped world and is a very unhappy person. I think I would not even answer her, just give her "the look that kills" and turn away...
I hope she did not spoil your day and that you will continue to bug her with your killer outfits - and who knows maybe she will be redeemed one day.

I can't believe this woman thinks it's her business to say these things to you!

Kudos to you for not stooping to her level! I do find it interesting that she tried to put you down, yet said you looked like a fashion model. Can we say J-E-A-L-O-U-S!!

You look absolutely FANTABULOUS in your outfit! Just three pieces, but WOWIE ZOWIE does it make a chic, fun, and sexy impact...and I'm glad that you know it! : )

As lots of people know, around here it is pretty rare for me to be lost for words. But to read that a "woman" could say such condescending, rude and arrogant comments like that literally leaves me speechless. I'm so glad that you have not let her get to you. Promise us you'll go to work looking even better and even more spectacularly, stylishly "outrageous" (in her mind) tomorrow!

Along Ornella's line, in response to every silly insult that pops out of her mouth, you could beam and say "Thanks for the compliment!" just to show how ridiculous she is being. Or if she's too dense, just go blunt and say "I'm sorry that my fabness is making you feel insecure."

How about we lock Shannon's fishbow affair coworker, Sona's recycling bin nurse and Una's redneck paralegal in a room together for a big pillowfight? They sound perfect for each other!

I'm always amazed that there are people out there who think it's ok to say something like that out loud. She sounds "well jel" as they say.

Glad to hear you're not taking it to heart because you are super-stylish & fab!

I'm laughing and Liz and MaryK's responses here. Ornella's idea for a comeback is a great one.

I always think these kind of comments say more about the person saying them than about you - she obviously feels insecure, jealous, unhappy, whatever, and it makes her feel better to say mean stuff about you.

Not seen your WIW yet, but it's bound to be great!

Oh, I have to point out, in between the lines - she's actually said you're looking good. She just doesn't approve of that sort of thing.... ahahaha! It's really hella funny.

Also, she reminds me a wee bit of my grand aunties and bf's family. Can you ask her if she's of German-American Catholic heritage?

What a terribly insecure woman she is and doesn't she realize that style and fashion go on forever in every decade?

Shannon, you are a beautiful woman and Marley told me about this thread as I was so busy with the YLF meet-up. Sadly, women (and men) in work settings can bring all their own baggage with them. I once had a male colleague diminish a feature article of mine that appeared in the local newspaper when he said, "it must have been a slow news day." That article of mine later went on to win a first-place writing award with a statewide PR and marketing organization.

Always believe in yourself, Shannon, and see this person as nothing more than an air molecule. Hopefully, one day she will learn about kindness and compassion.

You are the one embracing life.
