Sweater dresses - success & dilemma

As many of you here, I have been on the hunt for the elusive sweater dress ( knee length, to wear on its own) and I think I have found it. Max Studio was having some older models pop back on the site on great sales so I gave them a whirl. Now, I actually got two at different time points and they are both black ( all the other colors were sold out).

The first one ( with a turtleneck) is an absolute keeper and I have no doubts about it:

It is the second one ( with a scoop neck) that I am trying to decide on. The empire seam fits loose on the torso, and I do not know if it is supposed to be that way. And do I really need two black sweater dresses?

On the other hand: I adore the sleeves, it was a super steal ($28 down from 5 times that), the quality is great, sweater dresses are incredibly hard to find and it can be styled/layered in various different ways beacuse of the scoop neck, here with a tuxedo shirt and belt:

So what do you think, should I keep the second one too? Many thanks!

Isn't Max Studio the best for dresses? The first one is perfect on you. I only like the second one when it's styled. Otherwise it seems to hang incorrectly - hard to say exactly since it's black and doesn't show up in detail on the screen. Congrats on scoring the elusive sweater dress!

Love the first one, the second one seems too big or not a great style for you. I vote to find another in a different color. Do they have the first one in another color?

I concur with the others so far. Keep the first. Something is off with the second. I like how you have styled it except I'm not sure the long length of white sleeve works. Maybe rolled up?

I do agree that the second dress seems a little big on you in the first photo. However, I think it looks great with the belt, and the length and sleeves are great on you. With the very discounted price you found, I would definitely keep it.

I love the first dress on you, it looks fantastic! Doesn't Angie have the same one?
The second dress looks good, but doesn't seem too exceptional. I really like how you styled it with the shirt and belt though! So maybe you can keep it if it was cheap and it looks like you can put it to great use.

(Good memory, Marianne). So I’m biased because I own the first turtle neck dress. I love it! I bought that more than 2 years ago. It’s amazing that it’s still available on their site. I was just actually thinking of passing it on to my friend in SF. I could have passed it onto you, Tanya!

I like the second frock styled up, but still MUCH prefer the first. Remember that we are only adding 9’s and 10’s to your wardrobe :0). I vote return.

Love the first dress Tanya. I would question, given your beautiful wardrobe, how often you would really wear a sweater dress. Do you really need to double up?

If yes I would return the second dress and look for another colour.

I totally agree with Angie! Only 9's and 10's.. that is a thing I learned.. never settle for less!
I did it in the past.. I kept things that were just ok, bargains and then used it only once or twice..

I am really confused! I like the second one without the belt because it seems to be on trend - it is sack-dress-like, no? It is a bit hard to tell because the pic is blurry, but it seems to fall nicely.

But ideally I think you will get more use out of a second dress in a different color. It's still early in the sweater dress season. You'll find something!

I like them both but I agree that two black sweater dresses is probably more than you need. I think you are better off waiting and seeing what else is out there further in the season. You look fantastic, Tanya!

Angie, I can not beleive that you have the same turtleneck dress and that you got it two years ago! Is there any articular issue with it so you decided to pass it on? Or you are just making room for new stuff?

I know! Isn’t that interesting, Tanya! I loved that dress and have worn it well for two seasons. Totally flop proof with boots. But it’s time to move it to a new home before it gets shabby for the next person and I need the change. It’s still in good nick though. I just realized that my friend does not wear turtle necks so you can have it if you like. That way you can return the one you bought and save a bit of money.
