i have been infatuated with this bag since i saw it on black friday. its the sister bag to the striped brahmin that rae, alaska girl, and i think a few others have. but it's really not me. i'm not a pattern girl, i'm barely a stripes girl. but something about this bag kept calling me. then it snowed again yesterday, i was feeling some cabin fever, then a trip to the mall. and now its mine. it's really so different from what i usually buy, but i've already cut the tags and i'm ready to go.
have you ever fallen for something completely outside your norm? did you end up loving it, or was it a mistake?

Pretty! I think a bag like that is actually perfect for a non-pattern person because you don't have to worry about dressing around it so your clothes don't compete with it.

I think I'm still trying to decide what my norm is. If I like it enough to buy it and can see it working with other things I own, I kind of just assume it de facto is my norm.

I love it! It reminds me of my favorite H&M floral pants. I find that when I'm attracted to something that's "not me", it's a signal that my style is evolving in a new direction and then it eventually becomes "me". Enjoy the gorgeous bag!

It's a lovely bag and would go great with solid color clothes. I think sometimes when I'm attracted to something 'not me' it's because it IS me, just a side or facet I've been disregarding.

I've also occasionally had the opposite experience, I put on something that fits me to a T and works with my coloring and shape and current wardrobe.... and I'm just not excited about it -- maybe because it doesn't offer anything new to discover?

I really like it, too. I passed on the floral skinny jeans, and the floral blazer trends, but this I could see being smitten with as well. Enjoy!

I have definitely bought a few things over time that were definitely not me at all and usually not regretted doing so (although, my qualifier is that it can't be expensive. That way if I don't end up wearing it that often I won't mind so much).

I think juxtaposing the feminine floral pattern of the bag with something edgier would look really cool.

While I don't fear patterns in general at all I'm not usually a fan of florals of any kind. Yet somehow, when I stumbled across this vintage quilted floral patterned jean-style jacket with a giant goldfish bowl on the back at my local thrift shop I decided I had to have it even though it really wasn't me.

I have actually ended up wearing it a fair number of times and it only cost $10 so I figured I really had nothing to lose! It actually looks really nice styled with nudes and neutrals and I even found it worked well with a pale colored pinkish "statement necklace" I had picked up on an earlier thrift shop excursion.

So hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised by the ways you find to the style the "not you" bag in a way that is totally you!

Leopardluxe, I'm with you, usually when I buy something not me, I don't spend a lot either. That's partly why I didn't buy this bag earlier. Love the way you made that floral jacket look modern and fresh, and feminine but not girly.

It's a really lovely bag and I think you will enjoy it. I tend not to stray too far out of my norm... too many past mistakes. Having said that I think that you have made a considered decision here and will make this work beautifully.

I understand why you love it; it's so pretty and I am rarely draw to florals.
But today I bought a floral dress! I hope it ends up feeling enough like me that I wear it.

I recently did the same thing with a Brahmin bag in black and gold. I kept thinking of it. When I saw the same color in a different style, I decided to try it.

I love the bag! To answer your question, when I have bought stuff on "impulse" that I am attracted to but is out of my usual style, it has always had a high happiness factor.

I just did something similar and purchased some rather expensive patterned shoes. I don't do patterns, in general, and I don't do a ton of colours mixed together. But these really called to me, and will go with everything I own once summer rolls around. I think purses and shoes are a great way to bring in something fun without it being overwhelming.

I am not a floral print person myself, but something about this says spunky and fun instead of frumpy and dumpy. This purse looks like it will lift up any one's mood. Enjoy.

I usually don't go for florals but this bag is very enchanting I feel lured in just like you were. There is something about florals on a dark background that make them feel doable for those of us who have a print aversion.
