Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

So about those on-sale sweet pea tops... :)

I see Angie has flagged some sweet pea tops that have gone on sale at Nordstrom this weekend. I don't know if that's serendipity or just cruel temptation... But hypothetically speaking, if I were to get one, which colour would look best? :)

Just looking at the links I believe these are all the same tops but with different colours and patterns? I'd appreciate a description of the kind of pattern we're dealing with here, as well as a sense of the colours involved.

Thanks again, ladies!

Michelle, they are indeed all the same top and the neckline is SUPER pretty. The first one has shades of purple-blue and a little bit of lavender in a cool peacock feather pattern. The second one is black with sheer sleeves. The last one is a very muted green (description says it's grey, so it's VERY muted) and has several animal prints all in one (looks like tiger, cheetah, leopard). Oddly enough, I'm very much into the black one, even though it sounds boring, but I always loved sheer black and opaque black mixed together. My second favorite is the peacock one. The blues and purples are soft and pretty and would be very flattering on you. I like the multi-big-cat pattern one the least. The color is very blah and the pattern is a little odd to me.

So after writing that I think for you I like the peacock one best, but the black one is still super. Looks a little dressier.

Michelle, I'm not great at describing color & pattern but I'll give it a try.

First link: colors are a mixture of blue from light blue to cobalt, with some lavender thrown in. A bit of brown is also visible when I zoom in. The pattern looks a bit like the eyes on peacock feathers...maybe that analogy is not helpful. The top has ovals of different sizes scattered over it, each oval has a smaller, blue/purple oval inside it. I think the colors would be great on you, and the pattern has potential - I'm not totally sure about it, but I could see it on you.

Second link: this top is solid black. The sleeves are only a single layer, so they are a bit sheer. The body is two (or more) layers and is not see-through. Seems ok if you want a solid black top.

Third link: the color is a mixture of gray, grayish blue, and grayish brown, on a very light gray/blue background. The pattern is kind of awesome! It's a mixture of zebra stripes, spots, and leopard spots - pretty subtle and small scale, and all mixed together. For example the different zebra stripes are at different angles, so the lines look a bit swirly like a fingerprint. But to see all this detail I had to zoom in - from far away, the pattern looks more like a random mixture of dots. I think it's pretty fun and that the colors would be good on you.

Hopefully this is helpful...

FYI Michelle, they run small. I tried on a similar style Sweet Pea top and while it fit, it was definitely on the small size. I tried on a 1X and I would say it fit closer to an XL. 1X is usually roomy on me and this one wasn't that forgiving!

I'm personally really drawn to the black one, and I would get that one if I had spending cash right now. It would look stunning with pearls.

The patterned ones are okay, but the peacock one reminds me of blue eyeballs for some reason. I actually like the animal print one better.

Michelle, I really like all three. I can't add very much to the thorough descriptions above, but I think the black top would be very versatile and it can work as a dressy item. It would be awesome with your pearls. And I would go with the animal print one over peacock.
(Whoops, just noticed Marianna said the same thing about pearls :) )

You gals rock. I just love how you help Michelle.

Michelle, I can't add further value. But if you were my client, you’d be getting the plain black option to wear with your pearls. Match Reva and blow BF’s socks off by adding your premium jeans and biker jacket. Voila!

Marianna, you'd look fabulous in the black top too.
