Question about COH Jeans

Hello everyone!

As part of my New Year's Fashion Resolution, I'm trying to replace things in my wardrobe that are worn out, and adding more basics (instead of spending all my money on pretty blouses and then having nothing to wear them with).

Anyway, I went to Nordstrom's today and bought a pair of COH Elson straight leg jeans. They are wonderful! I had previously tried the Ambers and liked them a lot, but I don't really want a bootcut because I don't want to have to worry about PPL with certain shoes and all that stuff. I got a dark blue wash, but I really need to replace my dark black jeans (which are now a dingy gray color). I can't find the Elsons in black, but I did find the Avas in Carbon Black:

Is anyone familiar with this fit? How is it similar/different to the Elsons? If I could get the Elsons in black, cream and white, they would be my dream jeans. These are fabulous! Thanks to San (I think) and others on the forum who bought these and reported back!

I am afraid I do not know anything about the fit of either pair Ana, but I am looking forward for photos of you in the Elsons. I tried searching for other colors on the web, but all I could find was dark wash.

I am also on the mission to replace my black-black skinnies, they are faded too; which i guess makes sense considering we have the same pair and probably got them around the same time. I'll let you know if I find something promising.

Don't you already have white J Brand skinnies?

Yes I have the Avas in Carbon Black. I have not tried the Elsons but would like to try them some time soon, and would love to hear from someone who does know the difference between the two. Am I right in my thinking that the Avas are more of a skinny and the Elsons are more of a straight leg jeans? To me the Avas are pretty snug in the calf, and my calf measures 14" at the widest place.
I love the Amber bootcut and now I want to find a pair of jeans that does not taper in quite so much at the knee, is that more of a trouser jeans? I had always considered jeans that taper in at the knee and then flare out, bell bottom jeans. They're calling these Amber's bootcuts though.
Sorry to derail your post Ana.

Aren't the Elsons COH's skinny jean? I didn't think they were considered straight legs.

Ana, I'm so glad you got your pair of Elsons! I love the fit too (and I'll love it better after I lose the 5 lbs. I gained at my mom's over the holidays!)

Ana, I have the Elsons but haven't tried the Avas. I think the Elsons have a higher rise (about 8.5) than the Avas (around 7.5), but don't hold me to that. I think they are both straight leg jeans. I think Avedon is the COH skinny.

Laura, I too have had to put the Elsons on the shelf for a little while until I can get rid of my holiday indulgences as well :)

Thank you so much for the responses! I really love the rise of the Elsons (8.5), and was wondering how much lower the Avas were. They didn't have those in my Nordstrom so I couldn't try them out in person. Hmm...maybe I'll just wait and see. The Elsons fit me like a straight leg jean (I can't really do the "skinny" legs).

Tanya, I do have J Brands in white, but the crotch area is sort of slumping down and creasing in a weird way. I'm not really sure what to do about it, because I thought maybe the waist was just too big, so I pinned it to see if an alteration might help, but it didn't make any difference. :( So, I think I'm going to replace them when I can find something comparable.

Ana, both pairs of white jeans I tried (JCrew and Rich and Skinny) did the same thing. I'm starting to wonder if that's typical. Maybe going down a size?

Maybe if we all talk about it enough here, they'll come out with a COH Elson jean in white, gray, and black... :-)

I'd also like a super dark blue, like my Earnest Sewn Esra's or my COH Huttons.

Oops, we should spell out COH in case the marketing people are googling: Citizens of Humanity Citizens of Humanity Citizens of Humanity Citizens of Humanity

Here is some info from Tobi's website about the Avas:

* 29.5" actual waistband
* 34" inseam
* 7" front rise
* 11.5" back rise
* 19" at upper thigh
* 13.5" at the knee
* 13.5" at the leg opening

Measured on a size 26, dimensions may vary with size.

Paloma is wearing a size 26.
Paloma’s profile: height 5’9”, bust 32”, waist 25”, hips 35”

They seem VERY low to me. I know the rise gets a bit bigger as the size goes up, but not by that much. I usually wear a 26/27 and even though I get frustrated with low rise jeans, I don't think I have ever tried anything lower than 7.5. 7" is extremely low.
