Purple handbags

They seem to be everywhere. So my question is when is it practical to buy one in terms of
1. colors they work with-- could you use it with your whole wardrobe or is its use going to be limited to certain color schemes?
2. could you use it year round i.e. in spring and summer too?
3. is this a trend that's just going to go away?

I'm really attracted to a few but I'm afraid with my mostly cool colored wardrobe I'd be better off with warm colored handbags.

I bought a cheap purple purse last year. It was a classic royal purple and I got SO many compliments everywhere I went--I have never gotten so much positive feedback on a purse. I wore it with most of my wardrobe--I found that it worked with almost all of the colors I own (both warm, cool and neutral tones). I say go for it!

I think that purple can be very versatile, and I am personally planning on getting a simple purple cracked patent tote. I am not sure on the whole cool/warm colors thing, I always used to think that purple goes better with cool colors, but I could be wrong ( i do like it with a tiny accent of yellow). I currently have my eye on this ATL one, which is extremely simple:

I have a dear friend whose signature piece for the last 20 years has been some sort of purple handbag...the classic royal purple. She always looks amazing and put together with her purple bag in all seasons and occasions. Go for it.

I've been considering buying purple for my work tote. RIght now my work tote is brown, but that means it doesn't pair well with half my outfits. But if I go purple, then all of a sudden I just have this unexpected splash of color, regardless of what else I am wearing, right? If I find a tote in a size that works and a price that is affordable, I think I'll make the plunge.

Go for it Patience! It's going to work with your style and wardrobe. I do not regard a purple bag as seasonal.

I don't need much prompting (like Tanya's frogs). Well, I'll try a few and see how they do. I still have not settled on any new bag in my bag search. Thanks Patience. I am afraid I wouldn't dare to buy something so expensive on ebay, I would have no clue on how to say if it was a real thing. I might try saving to treat myself to it for my b-day in October, but frankly unless it's on sale I don't think that I could justify blowing that much money on it on my grad student budget.
I sort of accepted that I'll treat myself to nice bags only when I have a real job. I am sticking to cute inexpensive ones till then; and focusing more on jeans, outerwear, shoes and sweaters.
