Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Please vote - black flats

I'm looking for a versatile black flat to be worn with skirts and trousers. Due to the temperamental British winter the shoes must work with different types of hosiery, below are four option I'm considering and I would appreciate if you could vote on which you prefer:

Option 1, Clarks

Option 2, Next
http://www.next.co.uk/shot.asp.....sp%3bShoes

Option 3, Office (suede) if this shoe was any fabric other than suede I think I would have a winner

Option 4, Office

Edit: Added fifth slightly over budget
Option 5, Asos

Do you think I'm being unnecessarily fussy in only choosing leather shoes?

Do you think none of the above are appropriate and I should continue my search?

Many, many thanks

Julie

They are all lovely. Personally i would go with the clarks purely because i've always found the fit good and they always last (i've got a couple of pairs of clarks boots which i've worn to death and they still look great) hve you tried any on yet or had shoes from these places before? x

Thanks Louise, I have had shoes from office and Clarks before. I'm with you on the quality and comfort of Clarks shoes, although I'm yet to try that particular style.

1 vote to Clarks.

I vote for clarks also lovely and modern!

I like the Next and the second pointy-toed Office pairs the best, then the Clarks. I think the Next and the Office have more visual interest than the Clarks, so personally I would try those first.

I don't think sticking to leather only is a bad idea; if you don't have the kind of weather that is kind to suede, then it makes sense to avoid it. I do that now in Chicago!

I vote for the pointy toed pair! So cute!

The other non-suede options are nice too. My question would be: do you always only wear silver jewelry?

Suede - only as pair #2, because you won't want to wear them in the rain.

I like the Next Bow flats the best for you, but I agree with Kristen and suede and winter weather. My next choice would be either the Clarks, or the Dune Kabana flats, they look nice and kind of vintagey.

Rute, another vote for Clarks, my feet thank you!

Kristen, I love the next shoes but worry I would become bored of the bow. The weather would definitely impede on wearing the suede pair.

Shiny, thank you for making me consider hardware, I have a black bag with a gold strap which I love so this is definitely a consideration.

Ana, another vote for the next shoes.

No clear winner, I thought this would be an easy purchase.

Thank you

Julie, my vote is for the Clarks- my sister has them in pink and loves them. This summer they came in a camel/beige colour called driftwood and I almost bought them so many times! In person they're really nice, and I think the most elegant of the styles you posted (though elegant isn't necessarily what you're going for). I also think that Clarks is by far the best of any of those brands in terms of quality- my Clarks always last well.

My favorites are 2 and 3. 2 is more functional, but 3 is super cute, adorable and dreamy. If your budget and lifestyle permit you, please also get those purple/pink wonders because they are fantastic.

They are all cute, but I like the second pair the best. Love the punk suede pair too!

In terms of durability and comfort, I would go for Clarks above any other brand of shoes. Also the Clarks shoes are pretty, I am going to look for them in the violet colour when my shopping ban is over.

At the end of the day it’s all about the comfort level. They are all fabulous in their own way!

Without looking at any other comments, aesthetically I love the NEXT pair best, hands down. The Clarks gets my next vote. Is there a consensus, yet?

I like them all. Sorry, this is not helpful - but I think you'll do well with any of them. If it were me, I'd try them on and choose based on comfort.

I'm for the Clark's. They look neat and polished and they are comfy.

Well, this is bliss. The girls' are off to bed early, I'm sipping a divine cup of coffee, whilst tallying the votes.

The result is 5 votes to Clarks and 6 votes to next. Both brands have stores in town so I will I put both pairs of shoes through their paces comfort wise before making a decision.

Thank you again for your assistance.

From looks alone, the Next pair is my favorite, followed by the Clarks. But the Clarks will probably be more practical and comfortable.

One more vote for Clarks, taking weather into consideration. Otherwise I would vote for the pointy-toed one (that's half suede, right?).
Enjoy your moment of bliss :)

I'm all about comfort, and I think all the options are good looking, so pick what feels best on your feet!

Since I'm in the UK too, I'm going to shamelessly copy RoseandJoan and buy the Next black flats. They're also the cheapest!

The vote is still split between the Clarks and Next pair. Melanie, please copy away!
