Oversized cowlneck sweater: yay or nay?

My dad thinks this sweater makes me look like a giant pink kangaroo, but I have always liked it. I know it's not perfect but it's so different from everything else I have in my wardrobe and it's wonderfully warm and cozy. The color is great as well. I know kangaroo pockets and high necklines are not the greatest thing in the world for me, but is it really that bad?

That sweater is VERY reminiscent of the 80's. The oversized cowl, the tunic length, even the color are very 80's. I think it looks great on you, especially with the skinnies.

I wish I could see more of the cowl, in proportion to your face. I understand you may not want to show your face - could you blur it or something?

However, having said that - I kind of like it. The style is young and the color is really fun. It is quite fitted to your body, so it does not look big to me. In fact, it makes you look quite slim, and your legs look about a mile long. I don't love the Kangaroo pocket, but I think it's a fun sweater to have as an option.

Oh, I was totally not prepared for such a positive response. I don't know why I was affected by my dad, a man who still wears pleated pants and insists that if a medium doesn't fit, the garment is defective. I guess I was already aware that this sweater had a few things that aren't usually flattering on me so he just provoked more doubt.

I'd love to see the cowl worn away from your shoulder - like a pukka cowl neck, sort of hung down and loaded in the front only. Do you ever wear it that way?

It's kind of an awkward cowlneck to work with. If I pulled it all the way up, it would cover my entire head and still have plenty of fabric left over. There is just a lot of fabric to push around. I have to experiment with it more. I just don't want it to become overwhelming, and if I push it all towards the front it sometimes looks that way.
