Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Out of style fashions you wish would return

I was just thinking today that it would be great if legwarmers made a comeback. I have large calves (about 14.5-15 inches), and am an otherwise smallish person--in fact, there are points where my calves and thighs are the same circumference. Legwarmers would solve my large calf problems by hiding them when I wear skirts. I don't think legwarmers are particularly attractive or my style, but because they would flatter me, I would be all over it if they were part of the '80s revival.

What out of style trends do you wish would make a comeback?

Steph i agree with hanna, legwarmers are about here too. In fact i've got a couple of pairs which i wear under trousers or knee high boots as an extra layer when it's cold. And i've seen loads of teenagers wearing them with skirts, might give it a go we could start a new fashion craze!!!!!

I wish dressing in it’s entirely would once again become LESS CASUAL. It’s not as fun to live in an era where casual is the norm. In fact it makes me sad at times. I say bring on strict dress codes as fashion!

MID HIEGHT HEELS!!!!!!!

I have been wearing legwarmers since college, so I can safely say they have been back for a long time.

I don't mind the casual dress code. I mind the SLOPPY dress code. Unfortunately I see little hope of this ever changing.

The color cranberry. I love that color, OD'd awhile back when it was in style, dumped most of my clothes in that color for one reason or another (weight issues, style issues, worn-to-death issues), and now I find myself missing it and craving it.

I confess that I miss dark dramatic lipstick - even if my own days are probably over for that. I just like the way it looks on others, the contrast. ("Simply irresistable... she's so fine... there's no telling where the money went...")

Otherwise I agree with Angie and RoseandJean!

Angie's return to less casual dress would be my wish too. It made getting dressed so much more fun. But here are some things I don't want to wear again: felt circular poodle skirts with three sets of bright rainbow stiff net petticoats and worn with bobby sox and saddle oxfords; hot pants; polyester double knits with elastic waists (especially pant suits); teased bouffant hair, duck tail hair styles, pointy bras and tight girdles with those metal thingies to hold up your seamed stockings; heavy fur coats...does anyone want any of these back??

I wish men would wear suits like they did in the 19th century -- waistcoat, tight-fitting jacket and trousers/breeches, boots, cravats--le sigh. But I would settle for men wearing something besides a logo t-shirt and jeans/cargo pants!

I would love to see hats be as important again as they were to daily wear in bygone days.
I am glad leg warmers are back and intigued to hear LouLou say that she wears them under knee high boots. I like the idea of the leg warmers peeking over the boot top.
I am thrilled that leggings are back and picked up 2 pair while in Texas, along with a couple of very cute tunic tops.

I liked low slung bells, I hope they make a comeback.

San they don't usually show over the top of the boots but i think i like the idea and might give it a go x

I'd love to see long skirts come back into fashion. Maybe it's my repressed Road to Avonlea longings, but I just love a floor-length, a-line skirt. I wore them in the '90's and would happily do so again.

I also second San: hats! Oh, how I'd love it if hats became very popular again.

And twinsets. And brooches as an everyday item rather than an ironic "look" to do. Basically, I just want dressed-up, ladylike glamour to come back!
