...our anniversary is just a few weeks away and I've already started thinking about what to wear. Since we have no holiday party to attend (first year with no parties in years and years), I thought it would be fun to wear my DVF dress.

How can I wear it so that it will be KILLER?? I was thinking a bib necklace for jewelry. I do prefer this dress sans tights, so some type of dressy shoe?
I thought about adding an edgy touch and using my cropped black leather jacket. What do you think about that? I will need a clutch as well, I'm sure.
Thank you for your time/thoughts, and sorry to bring this back up again. I'm super excited to have a chance to wear it!

I like the bib-statement necklace idea, and was wondering about your tuxedo jacket with this dress. Just an idea, but it's the first thing I thought of when I saw the photo of you in this fabulous dress.

That dress is already a killer one! You don't need much acessories, I would choose black sandals, a bracelet and nice earrings, I would keep everything black and white (very french).

You look so good in this dress. You are already killer in it as you are in the pictures. You have beautiful shoulders for a sleeveless dress. I like all of your ideas for it.
Isn't it too cold to go without hosery there? (Unless you are staying in, hmmm)

I would go with metallic or red heels. I'm afraid the black shoes are just a bit too matchy-matchy to me... or maybe a red clutch, and metallic shoes?

I really like your self-made bib necklace! The leather jacket sounds great. A BF jacket would also work nice, I think. Just be sure to take off the jacket when inside, so your hubby can admire your beautiful shoulders.

When is your anniversary? Ours is on the 26th!

Sarah, I think the dress looks amazing on you, and it's great with the necklace. Both the leather jacket and the tuxedo jacket VC suggested could look good - I'm torn about which would be better. I also second Shiny's suggestion of non-black shoes. You have gorgeous legs!

You need to add:

o Cheeky cropped biker jacket
o Non-black shoes
o Micro fishnets
o A textured clutch (preferably not black)
o Revisit the necklace once you’ve added the jacket. I think you might need something else.

I second the idea of metallic shoes. Have you considered a platinum color--halfway between gold and silver? Especially if it's muted rather than bright, it's a subtle touch of glam that doesn't fight with a white/black color palette.

I've decided to definitely try my pleather jacket (very cropped, very fitted) and some shoes other than black. I like the idea of a metallic. I was going to try a fuschia, but that just wouldn't be *me*.
I found a few bib necklaces that I like, so I'll try those once I have the shoes/jacket/clutch squared away.
Angie, are you thinking nude or black micro fishnets?
Shiny, our anniversary is January 6th.

hmm, I really like the Paris Hilton and the Chinese Laundry- it seems to me that with that hemline you want to go with a shoe with a bit of substanance- but I could be completely wrong,

Now that Christmas is behind me I feel like I can focus more on our anniversary, primarily what I'm going to wear.
I tried on the long boyfriend blazer and it looked odd because the dress hem is bubbled. Plus, the belt was in the way. I'm definitely going to wear my cropped leather jacket (black) with the dress.
Now for the shoes. I have completely changed course and am looking for something in a color that is slightly more substantial. I want to avoid looking matronly or bridesmaid-ish.
Here are the shoes ideas I have now. I'm happy to order a few pair to take photos of, but I need to make sure I'm heading in the right direction so I don't order 100 pair.

Once I get the shoes ironed out I think I can pick a necklace easier. In order to get it on time though, I'd have to order it pretty quick.

I LOVE the steve madden in blue. When you said you wanted a killer shoe I immediately thought some sort of cage, or cutout style would be amazing. It would play off the edge of the biker jacket, and contract with the slight girlishness of the dress with it's empire waist, and bubble hem.

Though I really love the idea of pink with this ensemble. Let me see if I can dig up something pink in the style I envisioned.

My two cents: From what I'm picturing imagining the leather jacket and dress and black fishnets... I would go with either the Franco Sarto blue suede pump, the Michael Antonio purple suede or the Nine West print.

I like those shoes! Since it will be cold, I might want something more closed-in, though. And I'm torn on the fishnets. I don't have black MICRO fishnets, and I'm afraid that black fishnets (non micro) could give the wrong look. I have nude fishnets that I could wear.

and i think getting some black micro fishnets is worth a try. i got some for around $8 at macy's for my high school reunion outfit and it worked out well. angie converted me!

I have been looking for a pair, but can only find fishnets (non micro). I do have a pair of micros in black, but they got a pretty obvious run. Boo.
