Need opinions please! Especially for #1 :)
1) If you only have time to comment on one, make it this one! I bought this skirt at Express today. I rarely ever buy anything full price, so that goes to show you how much I loved this skirt. I want to wear it to a wedding luncheon/ family get together Friday, but I need ideas! What to wear with it? Specifically, color wise. I am going to shop tomorrow, but I just need some ideas. It is a brownish tweedy kind of color. The only tops I have that are dressy enough are black, and one deep purple, so I think I need to shop. Shoes? What would you wear with it?? I was thinking of trying to find a short-sleeve jacket? Color? I need to go armed with tons of ideas so I can make at least one come to fruition :)

These are the Maya/Mia jeans! I got them today, and they fit pretty well. Thanks Maya! (I'll start a thread about what I will send you tomorrow) I think they are too short for flats though - I feel like they don't scrunch enough, so I am going to reserve them for boots. Opinions?

Opinions on this skirt? I am not sure how I feel about it, or how I should wear it. Ideas?

my dear MIL bought me this tunic since I loved my other one in olive green so much. Opinions? Can I wear this brown or does it look odd with my skin tone?
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Asha!
Love your #1 skirt, you can wear it with a nice colorful small and fitted cardigan (blue, yellow) grey goes with everything, this skirts also requires heels, just 3" or 4".
Love also your #3 skirt! so sassy and classy! You can wear it also with a white blouse and a denin fitted jacket.
#2 looks great with flats!
Hi Asha, here are my thoughts...
1) This looks more grey than brown in your photo, so it's hard to say. Grey goes well with the black tops you have, but if it is closer to brown in real life, I might try the purple- love that combo. If you're definitely wanting to buy something new, make it a bright! Red goes with any neutral (I have a feeling you look great in red), as would a lovely bright blue, or yellow.
2) I like the jeans a lot, and don't think they necessarily have to be relegated to boots-only wear. Scrunch is nice to have for skinnies but it's by no means mandatory, and these are definitely long enough as is.
3) I'm not crazy about this skirt, for some reason. I usually love this shape so I'm not sure what it is- maybe the detailing? I think maybe picking up on one of the brighter colours in the design, the green or blue, would be great in terms of a top. The shoes you're wearing with it go really well, though.
4) Don't think the colour looks odd at all. I love the look of wearing something close to your skintone, so for me this is just neutral and "quiet" on you, if that makes sense. The way that you've spiced it up with the blue is great, I can see it makes a great backdrop for bright accessories.
1) Great skirt! My monitor may be off, but it seems to me to be a great neutral, which means it'll go with anything. It even seems to work with the blue top you are wearing in the photo? I quite like that combo idea - maybe less turquoise and more of a french blue? You look great in blues and greens and purples, so I would start there. A soft light pink would also look lovely. How about a lavender? Hmm, and for fall, maroon or a rich cranberry/red-blue. Teal would work for sure. Really, you can go so many directions with this skirt!
For shoes I think I would stick to heels. With flats, I fear that the back ruffle or whatever you call that would look heavy, if that makes any sense. I think this skirt will look amazing in the fall with chocolate brown boots.
For a jacket, I am picturing it with a rich chocolate brown leather jacket. A jean jacket would also work. Otherwise, I think you need to take it with you to the store to see if it works.
2) The jeans fit you well. I'm with you though; I like more scrunch than this. So I would either hem them into clams, or reserve for boots. And of course I love the grey+vest+yellow bag look. :-) I really like how you've put a darker blue cami underneath.
3) I do like this skirt, and one great thing about it is that you already have a lot of the same colors in your wardrobe. (It seems all the pieces you are sharing form a "capsule" around brown, blue, yellow). I would try a top in the same blue as in the embroidery. Or shoes in blue. LOVE the yellow bag with this.
4) Yes, you can wear brown! I love it with the blue but I am thinking it needs a dose of white somewhere? How about white jeans? This tunic would be killer with white jeans, I think. Or white purse instead of the blue one? The yellow bag would also work with this. I know you are an earring girl, but I would also love to see this with a pendant-style necklace in which the pendant lands on the cami. I think because the V is so deep, the "cami triangle" is where my eyes automatically gravitate. So having an interesting pendant right in that triangle would be awesome. Make sense?
Skirt #1 - love the style. Needs a heel for sure (it fall it will be fab with boots but for summer party - a slingback?). I like Rute's idea of a colored cardi. Could do almost any color with a brown neutral. Yellow or apple green or turquoise would be nice and then they would work with skirt #2.
In the pic with the tunic (love it! and it works on you) the jeans look great with flats.
Oh, Asha! I hope I’m not too late to help out. But I’m glad you’ve received helpful comments from the troops already. Here’s my 2 cents:
o Beautiful skirt! You look fabulous in white. I see something softy and silky with the grey skirt. Lilac gets my next vote and coral after that. Opt for metallic heels to keep it versatile and Summery. Unless it’s a very funky jacket, I’d stick to something soft for the top. Nice contrast and NOT office-y.
o Maya’s jeans look great. Because the scrunch is minimal, try it with heels. You have fabulous strappy heels!
o The skirt is pretty. It looks roomy in the tummy area, though. Does that sound, right?
o The brown looks really nice. Super shape on you. What a lovely MIL! Try a white cami just for me :0)
Keep us posted on your outfit for Friday!
Yay! I'm glad those jeans worked out and I think they look fine with flats, but Angie's idea of wearing them with heels sounds good too. They work very well tucked into boots as well though (that is what I had originally bought them for).
I am SO jealous you got that ruffle skirt! It is the same one I posted in another thread in plaid. I went to try it on but it was way too long and the ruffle meant it would be a major alteration :( It looks great on you though! Why can't Express make their skirts in a short length?! You already got Angie's input on this so all I will say is: I agree :)
You guys are so helpful! I feel prepared to go shop now!
1) I agree with you all, I am definitely going with a heel. I'd going to try not to buy both a top and shoes, so I will likely go with these green heels:

However, I don't need convincing to buy shoes so I may just get some new ones!
The skirt is definitely brown, but it is a greyish brown, so I agree, it goes with everything. I just want to spring- ify it :), so your suggestions of colors sound spot on. Shiny, it's so funny, I justified buying that skirt full price because I imagined it with boots and fall colors and loved it! I am fine with buying a pricier skirt if I can wear it year-round. I love the idea of metallic heels, Angie. Hmm....I will come back later and show you guys my options, shoes and tops.
2) I will definitely try these with heels - hmmm - I'm thinking my gladiator wedges. I still feel so "new" to skinnies that I don't always think of all my options with wearing them.
3) Angie - you're right. I think that is why this skirt bothers me. I think it's pretty, and I like the colors, but I think it is just too big. Because it's A-line, I don't think of it as big since it just fits lower down, but it is too big. Maybe I could get the waist taken in? Do you guys think it's worth taking in?
4) Shiny and Angie - love the idea of white with this! I am still on the hunt for white jeans/clams, so when I find them this will be the first thing I pair with them.
Thanks! Anyone with additional insight - I welcome it. :)
Asha, I don't have much to add to all the insight from our resident experts :-D But I do want to tell you, you are rocking the express skirt and the jeans. I can see the skirt lending itself well to softer, more romantic looks, as well as sharp and edgy looks.
