I think in general if you stay away from halogen/caslon, you are much less likely to run into this problem. I only had one item this year that went below NAS prices. All the other items are still full price or sold out.

Peri, you are right that it probably shouldn't be more than a minor irritation. If I thought that the sweater was worth $100 when I bought it, I shouldn't mind having paid that. But to see things at 40-50% markdown (similar to end of season clearance price) before the season has even started, makes it seem like the original price was unrealistic and $100 should be considered the regular price. So why spend money in July for a sweater I will start wearing in November??

Perhaps the lesson is to use NAS for the more statement pieces and just wait on the more basic things.

Susie, I think using NAS for "statement" items is generally a good idea, based on what it happening now. I did get the current adjustment on the Haute Hippie dress but it was only a $25 difference, and if I hadn't gotten it, I would have been fine. It was a statement piece purchase on major discount at NAS and missing out on $25 would not have bothered me.

On the other hand, there may be certain functional items that we know are NAS items that apparently do not get marked down afterward -- like the Natori Feathers bra and panties that I bought at NAS. Definitely worth it, and not marked down at this time.

BTW, I do understand when they won't honor the discount now for items that are not available, like the tops you have where they no longer have that color. It stinks, but to me it makes sense. I think you should hold onto the color that you love, even the one that you still paid the NAS price for.

Una, unfortunately I don't have a store near me. Actually that's probably a good thing!

Viva, I do agree that it makes sense. I think I am annoyed because I don't take advantage of their generous return policy...I promptly return things and would never hold on to those sweaters for months and then return them for a full refund. So an adjustment request seemed reasonable. But $25 isn't going to break me so it's really not a big deal. I think I am just cranky today

There are a lot of things on sale now - according to the website sale goes through the 13th - including a lot of store-brand NAS items, but a lot are getting limited in sizes and colors. Check your wishlists if you've been hoping to find something.

Re the adjustment policy, I try not to get to exercised about stuff like that, and also try not to buy if I'm not going to be OK with paying the original price. I just wish they'd be consistent about it - the rules should be the same for everyone, and not vary depending on which CS agent you talk to or whether you do it online or on the phone or in person. OK, rant over.
