Low slung hip belt - too 80's?

I am having trouble with this look. In my head it was a great solution for a long top over skirts, but when I look at the pic I see throwback 80's. Do you? (ignore the white underlayer! I was just too lazy to change it out to the black I want to wear with the top)
I was trying to see if I could bring a skirt tomorrow to change into after the baseball game I plan to wear shorts for.

Or the Leith track pants?? maybe I'll just wear the shorts to the darn restaurant too.

It looks nice and not dated. I just find this kind of belt extraneous. Then again I have no waist to belt.

I don't think you need the belt for any of the outfits. But because of the cool clasp and width, I think it works just fine for them (maybe especially for the ones that are less structured because they show less skin).

I have a very similar low-slung belt with a much much less cool clasp and I'm hating it right now, because it does feel less modern to me although I thought it would be useful. I think I might try to return it.

I don't see eighties. But I do prefer the belt with the long skirt for some reason (not sure why). I also like the outfit with the peplum tank. Not as much a fan of the one with the track pants.

Aren't the 80s back? LOL I get so confused. Regardless, I like the belt but I do not really think you need it.

I think these are all good. I think it could have gone wrong with a different belt.

On a sidenote: I really love your black leather skirt, and I think it's spot on. Maybe my trouble with the other skirt is it's white... and reminds me a little bit of the after-shower towel. I do still have trouble with acceptance of white.

I like the top with the maxi skirt (with or without the belt), and I like the top with the track pants.

I like it with the longer full skirt a lot, actually. i have a belt along these lines that I haven't worn in years, although I keep thinking I will. Maybe it's the hip shelf thing that you and I both have, it makes getting the just right spot for it to hit tricky.

This is tough when you look so good in everything. Must be tough! Seriously though, I think the first two outfits looks great and I think you could leave the belt off if you wanted to too.

I like the belt with the maxi skirt. And I like the peplum top with the leather skirt. It looks modern.

This is like a tennis match, I like the short skirt but without the belt and the track pants. (same as caro)

I like it. I don't think it looks too 80's at all. I'm a big fan of low slung hip belts and think they look especially nice with maxi skirts as in your second photo. If it's a cool belt buckle (like yours) I think they add a nice bit of visual interest to what could otherwise be a somewhat plain outfit.

So I like how you've paired the belt and sandals, that have visually interesting elements, with the simple top and simple black skirts.

I don't see a problem:-), as the belt has a good form and design for that low slung, and I have a very very simillar belt!(mine is M&S from UK, bBut wear it always in the loops, nowadays) Anyway, thanx for the isnpiration, Mo:-).
