Long cardigan face-off - YouLookFab Forum

I posted earlier that I was unsure about keeping the long cardigan from the Nordstrom sale. Well, yesterday I came across another one. So they're having a face-off to see which is better!

1. Free People long cardigan, dark gray color.

2. Nordstrom long cadigan, brown color. (Several people commented they didn't like the brown.)

Now that I look at the pictures, they seem very similar. The Free People one is knit from chunkier yarn and has some cabling around the neck, has shorter sleeves, is longer overall, and only has buttons at the top. I think the Free People one is maybe slightly more funky.

I like the color of the FP one and I agree that it is funkier. However, I also find it kind of bulky looking. I'm not so good at judging sweaters like this so maybe someone else will have better input.

I dunno, they are similar yet different! Can you keep both?

I think the Nordstrom one looks more versatile because of the long sleeves, buttons, and finer gauge knit.

The Free People one is more fun, but it looks like it is pulling a bit at your chest when it is buttoned.

I vote Free People. I like the two buttons at the top and it looks cooler in general. But I love FP so I'm biased.

Oh you are so, so, so, pretty and your hair cut is fabulous!! Love it.
Both sweaters are equaly gorgeous so keep the one that is less in $.

I like the Vince style better, but still not crazy about brown. You can probably jazz it up, but you also mentioned that it was $$, so I am not sure it's worth it.
I don't like the sleeves on FP cardigan and the chunkiness. It looks like it might lose shape quickly. What is the yarn content?

As for the cardigan, I prefer the length and style of the FP on you.

I like both brown and grey on you but like the first sweater better. The collar is an interesting detail and I prefer the finer gauge knit. If you wear cardies a lot, can you keep them both? I had a similar problem last year after bringing home two similar long purple cardies, kept both and was glad I did.

I like the Nordstrom one better, but I like the color of the FP one. Maybe return both since you aren't 100% sure and find one like the second in the color from the first?

Hmmm. People in the thread are split, just like I am split. I'm thinking of keeping both - I realized that my black long cardigan is something I wear all the time. Even this summer I've worn it on average 2 days a week. So if I keep them both I'll go from 1 long cardigan to 3 and have more wardrobe diversity, especially this winter.

Good, I am so glad you can keep both because they really are quite different in style and I think some days you will pick out one as the perfect cardigan and then another day the other one will be the perfect choice.
I am going through the very same ordeal with black boots, which pair to keep. I should post pics and let you all help me. One pair is the one that Angie posted about which then a bunch of us bought, then I ordered a pair of Frye boots for half price which are also calf height. Now I have 2 pair of calf height boots that are black.

Yes, Sandy - let's have another face-off thread with your boots. Just be warned, if it works out like this thread you may have to keep them both.
