Is this too "young"

I "accidentally" tried this one when looking for pants. : ) Surprisingly, I loved it. The color is what drew me in originally. But the back has ties.

What is your opinion about this for a 50 year old that doesn't have an ounce of Urban Warrior Princiess ? I want more of an "ageless" look than a "what is your age ? " look.

I like it a lot. I don't think it is an age thing, it is an attitude thing. If you feel comfortable wearing it, you will exude that confidence and own it.

With the color and the ties and the quilting, it does have ALGO to me. I agree that it depends more on your style preferences than your age per se. I personally wouldn't go for it myself but I can see someone else rocking it and not looking foolish.

I love it! And I'd wear it, and I'm 50 (OK, 54, but who's counting?). I have a similar one in burgundy and I wear it a lot. Wear it and rock it, sista!

I think leather jackets are timeless and can work for people with all sorts of style descriptors. I say buy it if you love it!

Oh heavens! I thought the ties were going to expose flesh or something, lol! This looks like good ALGO to me. I might trim the ties and tuck the ends under for a cleaner look, but I quite like it for you Isabel! I really, really love that color.

Well I have one that is fairly similar (Danier) and I am also on the other side of 50 so I guess I am taking the side that it is age appropriate if it fits well and the color works for you.

I like it a lot. The ties at the back do read trend to me, rather than classic. Depends on what you are looking for. If it were mind I know I would be inclined to shorten the ties so that they didn't hand down past the hem of the jacket... they would drive my crazy lol.

I love the colour and it would look fab on you. For me, the ties would be ALGO, but that is a personal quirk. And if you love it, not too young at all!

I agree with Debs that I think I'd be inclined to shorten the ties.

Thank you ladies. I had never even thought of ALGO. Great point. I am going back to simpler, cleaner styles ( as I have in the past during the Winter ). My wardrobe core colors for winter are navy, charcoal, black and denim. My accent colors, if you will, are jewel tone blues and greens with some deep reds in there. This would work with a lot of my wardrobe as long as the accessories were at a minimum.

I may buy it, where it around the house and see how I feel.

This is not one of those "special" pieces that I would want to keep for a long time. I am also in a situation that I have gained weight due to an injury and once I get more mobile, I may slim down again. So this might be my fall/winter wild card.

The color of this is so great, I can see the attraction, and don't think it necessarily reads "young." I'm with those who would shorten the ties (and I'd tuck the ends back into the eyelets and out of sight--then the criss-cross of the lacing just becomes part of the quilted pattern.)

I agree, it's not an age-related thing so much as a style one. This has a slight bit of boho/rock style, so it just depends on whether that's a touch you'd like to bring to your outfits.

Personally, lately I'm usually choosing pieces with less detail and clean lines, but my existing pieces with more details work well to complement the simpler pieces.

I say, if you love it, try it out a home with the tags on with some outfit possibilities and see how it feels. I think it looks very cool.

Love it, esp. te texture and the color, but would perhaps cut back the ties on the back, for a cleaner look, otherwise it's perfect for this season's wild card-even if you wanted to go for more minimal looks. (Minimal can be done underneath, but then, this jacket will give only a bit of some that much needed interest!)

Not at all too young. Definitely tho a specific style flavour. I personally wouldn't wear it with the hoop earrings... well, I only wear hoop earrings when I'm in a ghetto fab mood.

Oooh, Isabel, I love this! The quilting, and the gorgeous petrol/gunmetal colour are just divine, and to my eye, the lacing is a minor detail, not the 'main event'. So to me, it doesn't really read boho OR warrior.....it's more classic with a feminine edge. Please do post a pic of you wearing it, I can't wait to see it on you.

Like most here, I'll say it is a very cute jacket. It's not a question of age, though, it's a question of your own style and the direction you want to give it. The ties take it one step to ALGO. If this is not you, be prepared to wear it with very simple, clean lines in order to balance it out. You say you have gained weight and it is temporary. Why not have fun and explore a new style then? I think this jacket would look even better on a curvier body.

So long as the quality is good, you can definitely wear it. I think it is stylish, the colour is the point of difference and you would get plenty of use from it. A nice choice.
