No, the skirt is not tight and the top is loose enough. Plus I think the lower heel helps mitigate as well.

It's not just what you wear, it's how you wear it. If the skirt was tighter and the heels were higher you would be heading into bombshell territory.

and the colors and safari type shirt make it less bombshell...and I love it!

?? If I tried that my shirt would blouse around my waist...is that because the blouses are not fitted or because I am long waisted? Trying to find out what to look for!

Although it is very eye-catching, I'd say no. The blouse is loose-fitting, and the button-down style says 'professional' more than 'bombshell'. The colour combo is very fashion-forward. But because it's tucked in and showing off the slimness of the pencil skirt, I'd say it could be borderline bombshell!

I don't think so. The top isn't revealing or tight and the skirt isnt tight and is right at your knee. A higher heel might change the perception somewhat, too.

No, for the reasons Anna offered.

Also because a button down (even a soft one) adds some crispness and structure.

And also because of your body type. It is tougher to look bombshell if we do not have super-obvious curves. Clothing will fit and fall differently.

Of course it depends on what "bombshell" means. This might be demure bombshell (a la GP) or business bombshell, but it's not Jayne Mansfield bombshell. If that makes sense!

Hmmm...not to my eye. The blouse is a take-off of a classic menswear button down. I would have expected a more feminine top, e.g. a tie-neck or scoop neck top...perhaps something with ruffles. The skirt and heels would have to be tighter and taller.

Whatever you call it, it's one of my favorite outfits I've seen you in!

my first impression is also no... for the same reasons as Anna. But, I have been pondering of late that I'm not quite sure of the definition of bombshell. I had always thought that word reserved for the quintessential hourglass figure dressed to highlight the hourglass curves, not merely dressing in form fitting clothing.

As an aside, when I was on externship (it was professional dress environment, not scrubs like where I am now) I was going to conference later in the day and wore a pencil skirt to work. I cannot do my type of work in a pencil skirt.

I'm with others on no because the fit is is not close enough to the body and the heels are not tall enough. For bombshell I'd expect to see more curve of a woman's shape than is done here.

No, partly because of the fit and heels and further to Suz's response, because you are are less curvy(which I mean as a compliment)

Coming from someone with an obvious bustline that I try to hide, I have to look hard for shirts/tops that keep me off the jayne Mansfield list

I'd also say no, mostly due to the skirt's fit. It is not form fitting and almost looks like it could be a-line at first glance.

I would also say no, a bombshell look to my eye is retro, feminine and sensual whereas your fabulous look to me eye is ladylike, clean and crisp. Did you feel bombshell in this look?

My answer is both "yes" and "no".

If you examine the technical aspect of the outfit as per your post this morning, then "yes" - it is a pencil skirt, it is a blouse tucked in, it is heels.

But if you look at the outfit in practice, it is a "no" - the pencil skirt is not tight across your backside, the blouse is not form fitting, low cut or sheer, and the heels are not overly high or consist of a sexy stiletto heel.

Does that make any sense?

I don't consider the first look bombshell at all for the reasons previously mentioned (looser shirt, skirt not tight lower heels). If I saw the second pic randomly, I would likely say it was bombshell but because I "know" it's you, I probably would say it isn't bombshell. But that doesn't really make sense, does it?

I am going with no on both accounts. The first for the reasons previously mentioned by so many other posters. the second no because of the Audrey Hepburn neckline which just says classic to me, well fitted and curve flattering. I see bombshell as amping both look up a sexy factor, a little tighter fit, a little lower neckline, bold make-up then perhaps.

I think I'm getting confused about the difference between "bombshell" and "sexpot." Angie, everything you wear is classy and elegant because of the fit and styling. I would totally say these outfits were bombshell, because they make a definite attractive and feminine impact. But I do not think they are overtly sexpotty. If that's a word.

Like any style, "bombshell" isn't just about the cut of the clothing, but also a feeling perceived from the woman donning the clothing.
