I spent the weekend with my parents, which is both delightful and nerve-wracking (mom is fabulous, but can be quite critical of my body). She has good style sense and taught me most of the skills I use now to shop, so I'm always especially keen to look good when I spend time with her.

Anyway this morning I came out wearing black clams, my aqua sleeveless blouse and a white v-neck button-front cardigan with white sandals. She didn't like the outfit and particularly criticized the fact that there were two sets of buttons happening (one on the blouse, one on the cardy). I wound up changing the outfit completely, but I'm now wondering what your take on this is. Is that a valid critique? If there's a way to make it work, are there other factors to consider such as button colour etc?
