Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Ideas for this sweater tunic

Another "how to wear this" question from me. I got this sweater tunic as a gift (I can't return or pass on for a while :)). Is it too young? Too boho? Any suggestions on what I can do with it? It looks kind of crooked in the pics from the way I am standing - I was in a hurry as usual.

With leggings - I wouldn't wear it like this but could substitute clams:

With skinnies:

Also took a picture just for fun with my old blazer to see if it would work as bf style (it doesn't):

Thanks!

My vote goes for the third look, I like the pop of colour the scarf brings. I think I would also like the longer leggings with the top and scarf.

Oooh I LOVE the third look Marianne. The scarf is a fantastic touch!
Clams sound great too.

I'm also wondering how it would look with white denim (skinnies).
I'm not so fond of the black long-sleeved top underneath. Have you tried adding a button-down shirt? Or maybe throwing a boyfriend cardigan over it?

They all work, Marianne. And so does the BF style in a hectically fashion-forward way. Hah!

Cute top!!
The only look I do not like is with the black, I think the crew neck is a bit off with the scoop of the top. Possibly a lower neck scoop. I think you have the right idea with that, a simple top with to go with the detail of the tunic. I like the blazer.

I actually like the look with the BF blazer the most. You look totally hip!

LOL,Angie! It is indeed too hectic to be worn outside the house. But I do like the overall silhouette, maybe it's nostalgic.
Thank you ladies! I was especially struggling with layering something under. Jean, I see what you mean about the scoop. Inge, I thought about a shirt but it seems like there would be too much going on. I just want to be able to put together a couple of reasonable outfits with it, nothing too ambitious :)

marianne, such sweet looks, all of them! My favourites are - skinnies + scarf and the with the boyfriend blazer :-)

You *just* got challenged to wear the BF blazer outfit outside! Next YLF gathering :0)
You look stunning.

I love the blazer look. It is so London right now!

Thank you! I do feel trendy in the BF silhouette although I wore something similar circa 1989(?).
D'accord, Angie, but I'll bring a change of clothes just in case :) I never feel right about wearing outdated items as trendy. The jacket is nice quality, which is why I had trouble getting rid of it. OTOH I wouldn't invest in the real BF style - I think they will be "out" before I get enough wear out of it.
And if anyone has any more ideas about how to layer the tunic, please let me know!

I also thought that all the looks worked. The scarf is nice and colorful, good choice!

What about belting the tunic?

OK, I went boho all the way today:

(scarf from the same source :))
Also found a scoop neck tee that survived the t-shirt purge - does this work better? (imagine with jeans)

(Medusa, belting doesn't really work with it, the empire style is really pronounced.)

oops, updated the pic link

I'm loving the boho look with the scarf, have you tried adding a vest or faux fur gillet?

I like all of the outfits too. I hope you wear the boyfriend blazer out. ;) Now what about your cobalt button down? To make the sweater more opaque over darker colors, you could try layering a white cami in between.
