Help me to pick a dress

Finally I decided to start my Summer dress hunting. I'm thinking of getting two, one in solids and one in patterns. Here are the ones I found so far:

I didn't find many in patterns that I like. I have one in my closet that can be altered so I don't have to buy a new one.

Hi Julia, I don't know your body shape, so I'll comment based on whether I like the dresses or not.
I love both of BR dresses I like AT one, but am worried that you might be too hot in the summer in the polyester.
I find the Macy's one a little to boxy and Jcrew one a bit too boring. Than again, this is my (subjective) taste.

Julia, I think it was you who said we had similar body types? If so, GET THE ANN TAYLOR DRESS! I have a dress with a similar cut, and also a tunic with the same kind of cut, and both are among the most flattering pieces of clothing I own. I also love the color. It's versatile but not boring. That is definitely my vote.

LOVE the BR dress. I’m particularly partial to the colour. (You know I’m a colour girl!) And the AT dress is a good and safe choice. The Macys dress is a tunic to be worn over jeans. You’ll need to experiment. Let us know what you decide.

I like the patterned BR dress best.

I liked the simplicity of the J Crew dress--it had a very casual and relaxed look to it to appeals to me.

And the Macy's dress is the same one I had linked to Ana in another thread when was looking for tunic dresses to wear with skinnies. I really like that dress but it would be quite short w/out leggings.

The AT dress is pretty, but it looks very dressy to me. Are you looking for dressy dresses or more casual ones?

Tanya I'm an hourglass. Like Maya, I'm a petite with a higher waist.

Nicole, I'm looking for a dress to wear during my trip to Hong Kong this Summer. Angie told me to find a fit and flowy dress so I picked AT, BR and JCrew. I think people tend to dress up more there so do you think the AT one is still too dressy?

I picked the tunic ones because I was not sure if I look good in them and wanted your opinions. Our local Macy's doesn't carry all products especially for petite so I might not be able to try it on.

Angie I'll try the BR dresses and report back how they look. I'm trying to add more colors to my wardrobe but keep the shape classic and clean.

I love the patterned dress also. You must buy that one.

Out of the solid dresses I like the J. Crew one best. It was a hard decision between that and the solid BR dress, but J. Crew won.

The other two I didn't like at all.

The J. Crew dress is beautiful! One thing--are you going to have access to a dry cleaner while you're in HK? It's silk, and if you're going to be outside a lot, it will probably need to be cleaned after one wearing. If so, I say go for it!

Good point Ana, I totally forgot about the maintenance thing. I'm sure there are dry cleaners nearby but I don't think I'll have time with my busy schedule. The BR print one is machine washable so that might work out.

I went to AT and BR but found nothing!

The new BR dresses are not in my local store yet. Guess I'll have to go back again.

The AT store I went to didn't have the navy dress in petite. I looked at the regular one and decided to pass it. I did try on the Hibiscus top and the silk shell with blue diamond strips that Shiny bought, both of them looked really good. They are not on sale in store so I didn't buy any. I'm thinking about getting the Hibiscus one online with another top since they are running a sale now (buy two get 20% off).

I didn't get a chance to go to ATL and JCrew. The weekend passed too fast...
