Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Help me stop second-guessing this purse!

First of a series of questions coming from me in the next few days. This forum is completely fantastic, but now all my perfectionist instincts have found an outlet and you poor guys are on the receiving end. :)

I'm the kind of person that tries not to change bags every day. I simply don't have time to keep fussing with it. Of course I'll change it up for certain occasions or if my every-day bag is just dead wrong with an outfit, but I do prefer to have a flexible bag that can go with me to the grocery store, to work or to dinner out. I've always thought a red bag would be fun for every day, so I bought this red patent one a couple of weeks ago. I know it's a nice shade of red, but I'm wondering if the shine of the patent makes it a bit too much for true day-to-day vercitility. My boyfriend, who wore nothing but beige and grey before I intervened, dismissed it as "too shiny," but obviously I needed some more enlightened opinions. If this looks obnoxiously bright or glossy, do just let me know and I can reserve it for occasions that call for a splash of colour:

Apologies for the old pic, but it served my purpose. :)

The colour looks gorgeous, i'd have no probs using it everyday. I love bright bags i think they add a shot of colour- (never trust a man's view on the specialist subject of bags LOL) x

I think it looks great in the pictures. Enjoy. Maybe your boyfriend was just pressed to come up with an answer.

Have you tried crinkle patent? I personally like your red bag, but just in case you are also questioning the shiny, maybe try the more matte option?
Also to me, red just seems more evening (this coming from the girl who has a white bag, a purple bag, and a black bag) so maybe that's part of the hang up?

I like it for everyday :)

Thanks, ladies. I'll likely keep wearing it for every day but also find a pretty white or cream( which is best?) option in case I'm worried about clashing. Loulou, you're wquite right, trusting the boyfriend for accessories is not the way to go! He's come a looooooong way from his cords and henley tee days, but accessories are beyond his expertise. :)
Sarah: A purple bag! I'm so copying that for the winter. :)

Chiming in late - I like the red bag. He is just not in tune with patent lol.

White or cream would be a fabulous neutral - Angie did a spring accessory blog post on that shade bag. I know it is hard to find the perfect one - I have been searching for a non-patent gray or cream bag for months (but I don't do online so only randomly in stores.).

Thumbs up from me too, Michelle. This bag totally works for everyday in YOUR lifestyle. However, Sarah makes a great point, matte is just as fab.
