Angie :: it's unbelievable you've had time for this thread this week. I cannot thank you enough for your thoughtfulness. You keep finding new ways to amaze me over and over again.
And to all of you, wonderful, magical women...
thank you so much for adding extra joy to my day and please excuse me if I don't get to thank you personally. I hope I live up to your words and enjoy your friendships for many years to come. This was my 42nd birthday, which I always thought to be bigger milestone than the 40th, because as Douglas Adams wrote in "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy": “The Ultimate Answer to Life, The Universe and Everything is... 42!”
This birthday came exactly 10 years after my husband and I had moved in to our then-home, the first one we owed, when he said "Well, I can't really top this birthday gift, so no more gifts from now on.'" Nice try, buddy. I did not ask for any special gifts this year, but am saving that spot for when I find something I really like, want or need... or save enough for (new camera, I'm eyeing you.) Although, my son thinks I really, really, r.e.a.l.l.y need one Lego set just for myself, with the house, tree, small garden... and, you know, he'd help me build it just in case I get stuck. Nice try, little buddy!
One gift I got - the one from myself - is a book I bought this summer and was waiting for the birthday to start reading it because I knew it would touch me deeply and because it's written by the young woman from my hometown (and even my old neighbourhood, as I figured out), so reading it was partially like walking once again towards being 42 and trying to find out the answers to Life, The Universe and Everything.
The day itself was quiet for me personally, dealing with the contractors who are still on the site, but hubby and I managed to sneak out for a quick coffe at our favourite place.
We did not celebrate yesterday, but will this weekend, when the cake with lots of chocolate and hazelnuts will be served. And we plan to go to the big open toboggan in the hills nearby for the family celebration.
I also received a lot of messages, some from friends and people I haven't heard from for years. Warm fuzzes overload and wonderful start of the new year of my life.
Thank you again for all the wonderful, touching messages and for making YLF my only real on-line home. As my gift to you, here is a fab find from when I googled "42". Is there a better place to practice #20 than YLF?
