Okay, now I want to do mine. This kind of dye appeals to me; the kind where I try to restore my original dark brown color and hide my gray does not.

love, luv, l.o.v.e your hair.

This turned out nice, really cool colors!
Enjoy

I Die! (I also dye, but that's another her story) wish I had enough hair to have this kind of fun...you go !

It's fantastic! I love it!

Aw, thanks ladies! My stylist mentioned this is one color trend that looks better with dark hair and takes well with the salt and pepper look. I don't have many fun clothing options right now, so playing with hair is my outlet. I hope some of you try it out - even a little goes a long way in terms of a statement!

We had a long discussion about how to prevent the grey from looking like bad roots, so she angled the color to follow the angle of the hairline. The white pops so much more against the color now. I hope it looks deliberate.

Super fun! It looks beautiful wiith your salt and pepper hair.

Late to the party, but I love this!

My hairdresser won't give me a streak. She says it is very high maintenance and that she doesn't do that kind of coloring. I'm very happy with her though, so won't be switching...what I did was buy a real hair blue clip in and I'm having a little bit of fun with it. And I can sort of tell that as a daily look it really wouldn't be that great for me. So...pro, temporary fun. Con...my hair is fine so I always have to worry if the clip is obvious.

But, hey, this is about you! LOVE IT!!!!

I'm in awe! Wow, just so fab!

It looks great AG! Your hair is perfect for this colour and your stylist sounds like a keeper.

Peri, my hair takes color so much better now that I've grown out the grey. My stylist and I were both shocked at how much the color showed without bleaching. It's much easier than any color i had over my hair when it wasn't as grey. This is just a STAIN! I bet doing a wash without bleaching would be subtle and pretty.

Here it is in natural light - at work indoors it's MUCH less noticeable.

Brilliant! I am bowled over. You are going to start a trend!

You are a constant inspiration, Una

Absolutely stunning, I love the angled colour.

Yes! This is subtle but impactful! Are you thinking of dying it all the way up like in the inspiration picture? That looks fantastic as well.

Bella, I totally would but don't ever want to grow out the grey roots again! That was the worst part of the growout process. I hope this doesn't look too much like roots.

I can't wait to see pictures of Rachy, Firecracker and anyone else who might try some wild color. It is really really fun especially as an outlet for not being able to shop.

Your rendition looks absolutely deliberate, no worries. I am generally very conservative when it comes to hair color, but I liked this very very much that's why I suggested it. Totally hear you on the roots growing thing. Unfortunately I caved into the social pressure and dyed my hair again. I like it but roots starting to show every few weeks is already making me have a tiny bit of regret.

Love it, and think, if somebody then YOU can really pull this off with confidence and a grown up panache!!

I saw this look a few months ago locally and thought of you, Una. I can see why it's called oil slick, but to me it was like butterfly wings or peacock feathers. It's really magical in person. Looks lovely on you.

Love it! It looks fantastic!

Are you just the coolest person on the planet? I think you are

I've actually been contemplating doing a big purple chunk on my salt and pepper hair once it grows out completely. How long does the purple/green last in your hair?

Roxanna, the grey takes color surprisingly well (maybe because grey hair is more dry?). This is only my second go-around, but the blue has lasted 6 weeks without fading. Last time I did that, I had bleached and dyed and it only lasted a couple of weeks! These colors are "stains" whatever that means. I think purples and reds last a little longer than blues and greens. They came out MUCH brighter than I expected, so if you want to be cautious, don't leave it in as long. Or start with a long piece you can conceal or show, maybe underneath?

Viva, peacock is good - and makes it feel more natural somehow. I feel like these are the colors I would have if I could grow my own hair color.

Beautiful. Stunning. Striking.

This is fantastic. Reminds me of lady I saw on the beach last summer who had colored her salt and pepper hair so she had a shimmery turquoise afro.

wow, I usually don't like "artificial" colors in hair, but this oil slick look is really awesome, both on you and in general! I think it goes better with black and gray hair than some of the other colors.
