French terry blazer -- yay or nay?

I tried on the above jacket (in black) at Nordstrom today and I think it's adorable. It fits well and I think I would wear it often. I am concerned about the fabrication though -- it reminds me of a sweatshirt/hoodie... very casual. Is it too casual?

It's on hold until tomorrow. Should I buy it or pass?

How pretty! It's a beautiful, fun, trendy piece so I don't know if you were considering it as a wardrobe investment staple. Like you said, the material is a more casual one, but I think it can be dressed up. I guess you might look at it in the same way as ponte knit pants or dressy premium jeans. They can be dressed up or casual depending on what you pair them with.
Are you set on the black color? I think the fuschia or marine would be so fun! Unless lots of color on top doesn't work for your body shape?

I can wear color on top, I just like the black for some reason. I thought it would be really fun with a bright top underneath. I tried on the marine as well and liked it, but I'm still leaning toward the black.

I've seen this jacket "in person," so to speak. It's a fun piece. It's fairly thick fabric--does that work on you? For a sweatshirt-like material, it has a lot of structure, so I think it would be great for adding volume to the bosom and creating an hourglass shape in the torso. Both the trim and the buttons are minimized in the black--it's a bit more elegant than the vibrant colors.

Nick & Mo also sells at Urban Outfitters, which is part of the Anthropologie family--so it would be well-suited to your Anthropologie gig!

I like it, Marianna- the collar in particular screams "you". I think black is the way to go, as it tends to make things seem dressier than they are. With the more casual fabric, black will make it easier to dress up. I say go for it!

I love it, Ele is right, the collar in particular is very you! I would go with the black as well and then wear it with colour underneath. I could see it working with a pencil skirt as well - something in herringbone and then some cute ankle boots. Nice price too!

Okay, I think I have to get it. It was one of those items that I saw online and then ran to the store to try on. I'll pick it up today and try to take some pictures for further feedback.
