For Kari - My New Boots Are A Bust

During our conversation in your last post about finding boots that fit, I found a pair that I'd been drooling over all winter, on Amazon, for an outrageously good price. (They were $50 when I ordered, though I see they're back up to their normal price now):

I received them yesterday, and sadly, they don't fit. The Ainly boot zipped right up over jeans from the get-go, no problem . The Archmount barely zipped up on my right leg (and felt very very tight) and only half way on my left. Without jeans, on bare legs, they zip but feel extremely tight. I was sooooo disappointed. I really love the boots - they have just the right heel, the leather is nice and smooth, and I love the little hardware at the ankle. I am almost tempted to take them to the cobbler to see if he can stretch them out, but I'm not sure that would work. They are only a tad smaller than the Ainly, but just enough so that I can wear them. You seem to have a slightly smaller calf than I do - maybe they would fit you? If you happen to see them back at that great price, you might want to try them. Sadly, I think mine have to go back.

Do you end up ordering any boots?

Oh, too bad that the Archmount boots didn't work! They are very sleek looking and the hardware is pretty. Thank you for the recommendation. I'll keep them in mind if my boots are not a success.

I did end up ordering the Rockport Ainly boots in the "Brandy" color when they were at $55.80 on Amazon. (Now the price is up $30 from there.) They're due to arrive late this week, and I'll definitely let you know how they work out. (I wish they were here already - it's stormy, rainy, and cold here and I only have one decent, comfortable pair of boots to my name.)

I hope they work for you! I had wanted to order the congac color at that price, but they didn't have my size. They do now, but for more money. Amazon is crazy - the prices seem to change on whim.

Does Amazon work like ebay?

Not exactly - it's not an auction, but the prices fluctuate a lot. I wonder if it's because they sell from vendor websites and list the lowest price of the product that is currently in stock, so maybe the Ainlys just happened to be on sale in that color through another retailer that Amazon had a relationship with. That being said, I don't know if that's the way Amazon actually works - I just know that certain retailers (like shoes.com) can sell their products through Amazon.
